Doesn't have much effect on us (barring Yids obviously) but from 2019, the tournament will be held in June and July.

This means no losing players in January and February.

What's the reason for this? I'd guess that with so many African players playing in Europe there must have been pressure from players and clubs to switch to a summer tournament so they don't lose weeks of league and cup football.

It's ridiculous anyways. I understand the weather being an issue but every two years is a joke and when it's in winter, it's even worse.

Something to do with the strange laws I'm terms of registration of African players I believe. For example, Matip who plays for Liverpool had to miss some games in the Premier league last season due to a ban imposed by his nation. I'll try find the article back out, I don't know why I didn't post the link.

Definitely about time this happened. I'd not be surprised to find clubs have question marks over African players sometimes due to having to factor in losing them mid season

I had read somewhere that it will make African players more valuable seen as clubs won't lose them half way through the season

Can't see it. If they're any good they play for France. The quality of the tournament is double dogger.
