Collins had the opportunity to push his team forward and turn them into a top two team by telling them to keep the pressure on Bolton and put them to the sword instead he chose to be timid and told them to try and hold on to what they'd got. The fact they couldn't hold on killed all the confidence that had built up in the team and led to today's embarrassing performance and result. Either Collins doesn't really believe in his own ability or his players. On Tuesday we needed another Val Ismael driving his players on instead we had timid Neil hoping to hold on but not really believing his team could.
Think we learned today the squad doesn’t have what it takes to go up automatically. Play offs again for us and another season in league one awaits.
We were actually putting the pressure on Bolton when they scored their first on Tuesday and it wasn't really Collins fault (other than picking him) that his number 6 got outpaced by Big Vic (Big Vic, ffs) by 5 yards over 15 yards then stopped and stood and watched Vic score. That changed the game and the Board's investment in quantity rather than quality leaves Collins with a very limited bench to change things with.
I think we were just knackered when that Bolton goal went in. Whether we should have been is up for debate
No, he didn't. Not by his words & actions on the touchline. He was completely raging at them for it. It happens naturally, and I hoped we had learnt from it. Stop trying to take this embarrassing performance away from the actual people on the field on to the man on the side. His subs etc, fair enough, but no way can he take full blame for this result. With the defence we had Jan 20th and before, first half of the season, I think there's plenty of managers who wouldn't even have us in this position in the first place.
Have you ever thought he didnt try to tell em to hold on. And it was the players who went into panic mode after a loss of concentration for the 1st goal. It happens to most teams at times.
