.....................and after many years of being a passive, but v interested reader of this most famous of boards, I now feel compelled to post. I'll strut my funkay stuff in bullet point format as it seems that most of you appear to communicate in short sharp shock opinion which, generally speaking seems to hold no substance.

I love our club and would ask you to do the same, and in doing do, I would ask you to recognise that much of your bile and mailgnant, unfounded, vindictive comments do nothing to help us.

I would like to offer some constructive thoughts for the future, suggesting changes in thinking philosophy, open minded-ness and positive trust, some, if not all totally alien to the Bansley Psyche.

Our Glass is Not Half Empty:

    * Patrick Cryne is our Savioiur. Without him we would not exist. He is a fan and, given that he owns the club, he is entitled to make decisions on behalf of us all;unless you can suggest an alternative recruitment process?

    * It therefore follows that you should trust him to make an appointment that he feels is in the best interests of the club. Whether that be Mark Robins, Danny Wilson, Paul Ince, Paul Jewell, Donald Duck or Vic Reeves.

    * Can you not see that you do have the power to totally influence the appointment of our next manager; as previous posters have suggested - why would anyone want to join us when, you, you, who believe you represent us, us as Barnsley fans could, by your childish rants, influence a potential manager's decision to join us. I love our club but as an independent job seeker there is no way I would join us, when a large proportionh of my existing customer base didn't want me in the first place.

    * Question: why not trust in Patrick Cryne to do the right thing?

    * Football is a game of opinions; we all have our views on who the next boss should be.....but if it's not the boss of our choosing, then, sod it, PC will make the decision in the best interests of the club.

    * Success is not an overnight thing. Let PC appoint and he will listen to what the candidate(s) say about their vision for our future. Hhe will determine, on our behalf, whether that person can take us forward.

    * Let the new guy (whomsoever it may be) do his thing. Keep off his back for a time. Support him for Chrissake. Whoever he is!!!

    * Trust him.

    * Stop being so frickin negative about everything. You reflect badly on our home town. Wouldn't it be marvellous to hear comments about us, the fans, being positive and committed to our club? The fact that you lot post on here means that you're bothered. Show it by trying to be positive, please, for God's sake, please try and be a bit more positive.

    * Read and digest Bright Reds wise words re motivating people. T'owd big stick dunt work.

    * We need peoiple like Bobby Hassle. He cares. Tears are a good illustration of that.

    * Get off the players' bax. I used to play and if I came on here, and read comments about me the like of which you lot put on here, I'd say to myself, "Why do I stay here?"

    * Be patient; we can't win every game.

I doubt that anyone has got to the end of this rant. If you have then pass on my message to your friends...."Keep the faith, be patient and trust in the people who run our club. Why, you ask? Because they care, I say. "

    * I'm writing this whilst on vacation, having found the time to post whilst away from shitty work.....................desperate and eager to know what's happening next.

    * Twould be raight good to see a bit of positivity emanating from my forever dear home town.

    xx

I am on 32 years so still a little to go to catch you up. I agree with you totally and whoever takes over should get a gold medal, because some fans including people on this site will still moan. If we win every game 1-0 fans will still want a 2-0 win. Steveos71 if you have come here being too possitive be warned, people will try to shoot you down. :D

Thanx for the response. Bring on the bullets.

Question? What exactly will it take to shift opinion from neg to pos? 46 wins in a season? Mid table? Campione?

    The thing is...

of the hundreds, nay thousands that read and/or contribute to this board, most will be of the same mind as yourself, happy to let PC get on with choosing someone.

But (and it has unfortunately been said quite often recently) the empty cans rattle the loudest.

A typical negative thread will have single figures of contributors, some of which will make repeat replies, all banging on about the same thing, on repeat play. There was a Danny Wilson thread recently and I noted that the same poster had replied to pretty much everyone in the thread, telling them that we didn't want Wilson. Was it really necessary to reply to everyone with his opinion? Must they really "cancel out" each positive (for Wilson) post?

The vast majority of folk will just dismiss the ranting and go unseen. They recognised that the buffoon who was resorted to making it bizarrely personal with the "fat Welsh c$#*" is unwittingly making a complete fool of themselves in front of thousands. No need to reply. Because of this, the negative posters think they are in the majority. We saw this recently with the bright sparks organising a protest to speak on behalf of "everyone". Thankfully, it was a ray of sunshine to see them get shot down, pretty much unanimously. This gives you an idea of what people really think when, faced with the prospect of a potential embarrassing situation, have to speak up against these numpties.

If there really is a list of twenty potential managers then you're going to get twenty sets of fans who all have a different favourite. Fair enough. But it's a shame that some people can't discuss the relative merits of each candidate rather than flaming about perceived and unfounded inadequacies of this person and that.

Oh, and personally, I would like to see Robins stay at Rotherham. Not because he is a fourth division manager and therefore rubbish, but because I don't want to see a local club have their chance of promotion jeopardised. Unless it's Leeds of course!

Some people just enjoy moaning. The East Upper is full of em. I don't know why they bother coming as all they do is moan and berate all game.

There are two main things that for me spoil this club a little:

    1. Chav morons. The type of folk who think it's ok to gesture at and insult away fans, stand up at away games despite being two rows from the front and hang around in little possies for fear being left to fend for themselves, despite portraying a persone of being 'dead ard' when with 10 like minded individuals.

    2. Old/middle aged men that just moan and whine all game. They often come on their own, but insist on sharing their views with everyone around them. We all get frustrated at games, but most of us keep our opinions to ourselves when they are not helpful.

    The same few

who constantly slag the club off on here do not represent the view of the fans, never have, never will
they do not hold any sway with the decision making at the club, never have, never will
most of them have the IQ of an amoeba
so don't worry, if it is Mark Robins, the genuine supporters will get behind him and the team and help to get us out of this mess
the small minority who don't will be sat in the corner of a dark room in front of their keyboard, stinking of stale piss

Where exactly are the 'malignant, unfounded and vindictive comments'?

In my opinion there's far more childish comments in the 'let's support the new board/manager no matter what' posts than in those critical of Robins' potential appointment. I rarely post on this board these days but I'd like to think that being a season ticket holder at Oakwell entitles me to a opinion. That opinion is that Robins would be a poor appointment.

Of course I'll back the whichever manager is appointed, as I suspect will the majority of Barnsley fans. That said, I'd total understand if the majority of Barnsley fans were totally underwhelmed by the prospective appointment.

Of course I'm grateful for Mr Crynes role in securing the future of the club but that doesn't make him bulletproof. Nor does it make him immune from mistakes, he's already made one in appointing Simon Davey.

As for the stuff about managers not joinining because of negative fans....utter ballax. Managers join because its a job, they get paid, they have the support of the Chairman and they see that they can be succussful. I actually see Barnsley as an attractive job to a manager. There's little expectation (outside of the club at least) that we'll stay up and there's some fine players to work with.

I can only be as ambitious and positive as the appointment is. At the moment it's not very.

    Why on your signature picture...

...is Oakwell painted in claret? Any outsider reading this really will think we're Burnley!
