Looks like everbody else is signing Strikers, except us. Surely somebody will want to come to us or are we taboo ????? (doh) (doh) (doh)
Davey isn't daft just inept and won't make promises he cannot keep . If he does manage to sign a good striker it will be by accident rather than design.
RE: I haven't heard any promises nt Davey words in the Star not one player but perhaps two. whats up a yur deaf ??????? "Our next match is at home to Ipswich a week on Tuesday and I am expecting to see the right sort of response from the players in that game. "It is a big fixture for us now, one which we need to win, to get us going again in the right direction. "I will also be looking to do something in the transfer market. "Hopefully I can get at least one body in before the Ipswich game, if not two (doh) (doh) (doh)
RE: I haven't heard any promises nt I think the use of the word 'hopefully' is quite important in that sentence
But don't let that get in the way of having a pop at Davey eh?

Why don't people understand the english language? As is pointed out above, 'hopefully' indicates a hope that we will bring someone in, not a bloody promise. This board really is hard work sometimes.
RE: Why don't people understand the english language? Then perhaps you should look at all his comments "I will also be looking to do something in the transfer market. Not he will be 'hopefully' looking to do something in the transfer market. He's either doing something or nothing and he chose something.
RE: Why don't people understand the english language? That still isn't him promising to sign anybody, he's saying, quite clearly, that he knows he needs to strengthen and will do what he can
RE: Why don't people understand the english language? "I will also be looking to do something in the transfer market." Not exactly a guarantee is it. He is looking a players to bring in, that is all he is saying. The context he uses the word 'looking' would suggest to me that there is hope in there rather than assurances. He intends to do it but nothing concrete yet. "Hopefully I can get at least one body in before the Ipswich game, if not two." Hopefully, not definite. The reason we haven't signed anyone is because nothing has been agreed, not because he isn't trying. Or maybe he has signed someone, or is very close, but wants to wait until later in the week to announce it. Maybe because the club want to announce 2 players together. Who knows? But I will bet they are hard at it (trying to get a player that is).
