my overwhelming thought is that we should not sell Jamal. Even for £2 million, if someone is daft enough to offer it. The money will not compensate for the damage his departure would do to our progress.
I'm almost wi thi wait until the summer. Depends on the thoughts of JCR. If the offer is close to our valuation and the player is keen on the move then there's only one outcome.
RE: I'm almost wi thi we've come so far, I just think even for 'good money' we'd be taking a huge backward step. Didnt want Howard to go, but with other options available, we've coped. There's no player like Jamal in this league, without him were ordinary. Davey should make it a priority to convince him to stay.
I think .. that if he wants to go, then there is little choice, but there is no indication yet that it is what he wants.... if he does then we have all the cards, so I'd say, hang on til a replacement is comitted to coming here ... Edwards, McIndoe whoever, but don't sell til we have someone in ... selling him would be a disappointment - but an indication, that BFC, on this occasion did good business in buying him - he has progressed brilliantly here.
Definitely prefer him to stay ... and agree that there isn't a player like him in the league... what I would say is that we are becoming increasingly/ alarmingly reliant on him ... he's coming way too deep to try & do it all himself. In a team with strikers & Devaney, I think we could be awesome..... at the moment even JCR is lost. We need strikers fast, and we need to get JCR doing what he does best - playing on the wing... somehow I think he'll go... I just hope we get someone in first - we're threadbare as it is.
JCR is worth more than £2 million to Barnsley Football Club It would have to be a much bigger deal to get JCR away from the WELL if I were PC JCR maybe the difference between us stopping up or us going down........so £2 million is NOWT !!!
RE: JCR is worth more than £2 million to Barnsley Football Club Agree with you, but once an offer is made, a player gets distracted etc etc.... If it's a better offer than he's got now then we're struggling. I'd do my best to keep him, but I'd be looking round for replacements just in case.
RE: Definitely prefer him to stay thing is, we've got money to spend, but it seems difficult to get the right players in. £2 million gets nothing these days, Id rather keep JCR and loan players in where we need them, we already need 3 maybe 4, if he leaves, well, just where do we go? Tell Reading he's not for sale at any price.
