We've bet a team who are expected to get into the playoffs, lost to a team who have got millions in bank and who'll Probably finish in top 3 and had a off day against a good Brighton team. Reaction on this board amazes me, i've not bothered reading out this weekend but had a quick glimpse this aft and a feel like roaring. If we go on to loose our next 5 games then I'll start panicking but come on its early days and we've once again got a depleted squad through injuries. I hope this helps some of you out there who are on the brink of getting the anti-depressants out.
We might as well change our sponsors to the Samaritans if this board is anything to go by. We've only got 43 games to turn our season around...
Stop over reacting just look at the names of the people who are moaning, just take it with a pinch of salt, these are the same posters who always moan, if we win the first thing they say is things like Davies should have had 3, and its a good they we're well under par and such like, They'll never be happy, just treat them like the boy that cried wolf.
I'm over it. But I stand by my view that i've held all summer, that we're ****** unless we sign another defender or two. Which me might yet, so onwards and upwards.
It was for the wolf! Got to admit this site is depressing at the moment - same people moaning all the time. Some really enjoy us losing :-(
fukin bristol can get ready this satdi, they havnt seen us after a batterin,,tell them to wear double shin pads....COYR!!!
Yes i know a few sheep got ate so what ?, but the blind panic on here caused by people crying too soon, is far worse then anything that could happen to the club, if we go down so what ? if the club goes under so what ? i'm sure we'll cope worse things have happened in life, the only ones who are moaning are the sad perfetic w'ankers with nothing but a football club to worry about, well let them get on with it, if the worst dose happen us grown ups who live in the real world will help them come to terms with it, so relax and don't worry.
If we went down i as a true Barnsley fan would be most unhappy but we'd still watch them wouldnt we?. Personally in my opinion when you pick your team as a nipper you stick by them no matter what league they play in. Maybe I'm deluded and shouldn't always find positives but if there's 1 thing I've leart in life picking up on negatives gets you no where at all. It's be hopes Keith hill asn't thrown towel in yet cause we are doomed. Take each game at a time then see where we are.
Me too - I really got hooked when my dad used to take me to watch us in the 4th division under Jim Iley though my first gamea were in the 3rd division so I started getting used to relegation quite early on - at some point the chances are we will be relegated again - it might be this season it might not be for another 10 - we might even get another go at the Prem - who knows thats the wonder of football - but I will still be there no doubt. If we really go out of business that will probably be me done with football - at one time I might have tried to find another club but I cant see it now - see article about football becoming a business for many of the reasons why. But we are getting far too far ahead of ourselves - we've had one good performance - one OK performance at Wolves and one awful performance at Brigton - season barely started and we already have 3 more points than many expected at this stage
After 3 games the thing that is frustrating most people on this board is that the defensive frailties of last season are once again coming back to haunt us. In my job if I see a weakness then its my responsibility to try and make improvements to the situation. During the last few months i'm sure a lot of Reds fans were hoping to see some fresh recruits amongst the back four but this never materialised. Hence the dilemma we are in now. All sorts of combinations can be tried but the problem is the players at the back are not good enough at this level. Unless we bring in different defensive personnel the goals against column for us will be totally unacceptable.
I agree with that fully too and i think we do need a commanding defender sooner rather than later, but we're 3 games in. If we go onto concede a cart load in next 5 games then I'll hit panic button but for time being i'm willing to give it another 5 or so games. Let's get behind them!
Is it really the same people? I cannot remember ever seeing any posts from Dr Zaslos, Offspring etc. Before this season, but it is the same ones moaning at the very few worried people on here.
When did we start claiming 3-1 defeats to be OK performances? OK performances used be scruffy 1-0 home victories or boring draws away from home. Now our expectations are so low that a proper hiding is termed OK. Things really are grim.
hang on I'm all for being positive, but the worrying thing for me on Saturday (granted I've only seen the highlights )was that our defence were dire (again) !and the rest were not much better in fact they we were so inept our manager (totally out of character) came out and said so IMHO the overly optomistic posts are as far OTT as the doom and gloom ones.
At the risk of being shot down - I wasnt really referring to the score, of course a defeat is never an OK result but to lose at Wolves is something that will happen to a lot of teams this season I was more making the point that performance wise it sounded like the players had a decent go but lost because wolves were more clinical in front of goal than us, and a much more general point that we have only played 3 games and only been really bad in one of them. (I think a narrow defeat at Swansea wouldnt be a disaster either though it will be disappointing if thats what happens)
You do know this is a board intended to discuss all things related predominantly to Barnsley Football Club? Pleased to see that the grown ups would take the death of the club with a pinch of salt. Begs the question are you really that interested? You might be better off finding a board where discuss the worst things that could happen to them then being grateful that is hasn't.
Everyone talking about how we haven't signed any defenders Have we not just signed Cranie? Who is likely to start sooner rather than later, so he might be an improvement. Stones is effectively like a new signing too and folk are raving about him. Golbourne only played a few games last season so is almost new too.
