After listening to Keefs interview........can only assume there's been a change...

    ................of direction from the club directors

    Mark Robins was brought in and was doing a decent job........but with all accounts he got the sack because he was signing highly paid journey men.
    Pat Cryne said we are a club that recruits from lower divisions and develops those players........so he appoints Keith Hill to do just that.

    And thats exactly what has been happening over the last two seasons.........UNTIL TODAY............Keith is now talking about signing Championship quality players because if he dosent then he feels he could be sacked.

    Now I would say that Keith Hill would not be able to say such things UNLESS there has been a head to head meeting with Pat Cryne and Keith has laid it on the line what needs to be done if Barnsley is to survive in the Championship

    It looks like, Pat Cryne, to his credit, has agreed and given the go ahead.

    Which then raises the question.......if Pat Cryne is willing to spend some money and invest in the players........does that mean that Pat Cryne is preparing to keep the club in his ownership ???

    Keith Hill has been picking players up from the lower leagues and developing those players.......most of which have been good signings.
    These players are developing...........but it takes time.
    However, in my opinion, Keith has got to a point where he recognises the bulk of the team is good.........but it just needs that bit of quality to make it into a decent winning team
    That quality is much easier to find in the Championship than it is in the 1st and 2nd divisions
    So he's started to shop in the Championship..........to do this he needs money..........to get money he has to get the approval of Pat Cryne.

    My prediction..........just watch this space if Keith Hill is allowed to sign players that have established quality

    As for Robins...........I think the directors backed Robins into a corner so he had no way to go......but out
    They sort of made him an offer he couldn't refuse

    Its been suggested a few times on here ,allegedly coming direct from the club, that its Pats wife that doesn't want to sell ,which if we are speculating would suggest Mrs Cryne controls the purse strings

    Is it true that when robins was in charge we spent over a million pound on loan players? A club like ours cannot sustain financial outgoings to that extent with nothing to show for it. A think 3 good quality championship players and we are ready to battle against the best of them.

    A wonder if finances have been put forward by the 'supposed takeover consirtium' ??

    Players from the lower leagues like Martin Cranie, Kelvin Etuhu, Jacob Mellis, Tomasz Cywka, Kelvin Etuhu, Daniel Drinkwater, David Button, Ben Alnwick and so on.

    It was actually Robins who signed Craig Davis and thank God he did.

    Not quite mate. Robins agreed the transfer, but he didnt actually sign until Hill came.

    It wasn't a transfer, Davies was out of contract. Half the Championship was eyeing him up. he's Hill's signing.

    I think he was being little bit cheeky regarding the bits about Hill taking all the lower league players and making them better!!!

    Ok maybe I should have said it was Robins that agreed the signing of Davies, but Hill was here when he signed on. This was in March of last year.

    So what is suggested here is that.........

    Cranie - Coventry in the championship...........1st division now
    Cywka - was in the Derby first team
    Drinkwater - was in the Man u first team
    Mellis - was in the Chelsea first team
    Button - was in the Spurs first team
    Etuhu = pompey ...........1st division now
    Alnwick - was in the Spurs first team

    Alternatively..........most were in reserve teams or 1st division players
