Hi Everybody from a cold and rainy Glasgow, the new home of Baldtyke. Been a good while and many changes of BBS since I last posted but I thought why not get back at it I have been watching the threads for a while now and there seems to be a fair old divide between the positive and negatives. Anyway a new season coming up, fresh starts all round, last season would have been a blinder if we hadnt lost all of the midfield in one sweep and KH didnt have a scooby how to react a bit rabbit in head lighty for me. But he will hopefully have learned from that and will in fact have a plan B this time around in case we have a car boot sale of players in Jan again Not gonna comment on the selling of players just now because we dont we give em away due to weak bosses who are bullied. I know we got half a mill for Vaz but if we had kept going what could we have made if we had made the playoffs so we gamble so what business is a gamble. At worst stick a stupid figure on him and work down and if you sell then at least make some good money but for half a mill i would have hung on to see. As for KH, I think he has something, not quite as much as he thinks he has but there is a little something there and I'm willing to give him a shout to see if he really can put the last part of the season behind him and hit the ground running again. Players coming in, I think we will be ok, lots of mortgages to be paid. We might have to wait unil they get desperate but so what just tie em up on good contracts for BFC and if they do ok and we have to sell get decent dough for them. DON be a lion not a white fluffy sheepy thing, grow some big bull like nads. Right thats my first post done, many more to come as stuff unfolds Have a good one folks BT
Welcome back Baldtyke. Agree with pretty much every word there, though not so confident on the players coming in bit. Still, early days yet so if we sit tight and hold our nerve then hopefully we'll get the right players for the team, not just to please the fans.
If old Don had got the proper value for the players they got shut of then KH might have had a way of reacting to it! Instead he was left in no mans land. Also Don left us with no time to replace Vaz as it was done at the death. We shoul dhave been the one playing hard ball. West Ham wanted Vaz. We should have told them 1.5 million by x day and got someone lined up to replace him if he went. Might have been a bit hard on Vaz if it fell through but he was under contract. My feeling is West Ham would have paid it as they really wanted Vaz and they have announced since they thought they got him VERY CHEAP. Think we need to get Don on a negotiating course or let KH and flicker handle it!
I agree with you totally but KH has the opinion that he is a great manager. take note Keith, life in football can leap up and kick you in the goolies at a minutes notice, IE it takes 2 seconds (not mathmatically correct) to break your star players leg or 2 minutes for your other star to be banned for 12 games ( albeit you have to be a loony) but the point is that all GREAT managers have a plan B...we didnt! As for the DON...one word Don me old mucker............................NO In any sales environment you must be prepared to turn your back and walk away if the deal is wrong. WH if they really wanted Vaz would have paid a shed load more and with add ons BFC could have made a right killing but do we NAH we get bullied. So what if WH walk away we still have the player, so what if the player strops shove him on the bench for a few games and he suddenly loses his value so goes back to begging for a contract in the summer. Basic rule of thumb, grow some big nads and stand up for the club we are better than this and as fans although we dont like good players going it doesnt hurt so much much if we see a wad of cash coming in. As for agents tell em to do one...we as bfc set the terms, we negotiate but we dont fold and roll over for a belly tickle, if their player is not in our range just say NO dont agree to stupid clauses just to get em onboard. There are enough good players out there who will be looking to work on the bins ( a cracking proffession staffed by high quality lads n lasses may I say) as they cant get a club so take advantage and set the terms dont wait for terms to be set. So Don take it from Baldtyke.....get a grip mate and start making us a very profitable club and stop wasting good opportunities as they dont come round too often, if we own a good product then make the buyers pay for quality. Baldtyke made his trillions and now sits in Baldtyke manor by knowing how to buy cheap from Taiwan, find the best boat to smuggle the goods into the country and the best markets to knock out a few million dodgy bits of gear before the old bill move you on. So take note and listen to one who knows. EEEEE its all a good bit of fun BT
