In my opinion Michael Tonge started well buts that position is vital to the way we play and Tonge hasn't been consistant enough. A commanding Centre Half to boss the defence. Two decent wide players with shooting boots! A target man to play along side Davies with the right player Davies could easly top 20 goals. Finally sticking with Hill is essential in my opinion.
One thing that I think we ought to be able to improve upon (with minimum expesnse) is set pieces. We don't even bother to send our tallest defenders forward when we get a free kick on the half way line. I'd like to see ONE individual nominated to take ALL free kicks and corners. It all looks very hap hazard. Also, we are very shot shy. THere is no shame in playing percentage football.
A commanding centre-half, and a good left-back are the main priorities for me. We need some organisation in the back four, which we seemed to have away at Forest, Reading, Millwall, Birmingham & Derby. Not sure what happened after that. Consistency within the team, midfield in particular, is important. Earlier in the season we often had the same midfield consisting of Drinkwater, Perkins, Butterfield, O'Brien & Vaz Te, but since January it seems Hill is still trying to find his best midfield. Next season the 'lower league players' should be better for experiencing a season in the Championship, and getting to know how one another play. Hopefully this, along with a few good additions we should be able to push on a little bit more.
