some real credit IMO.Whatever Mido's, or Egyptian footballs circumstances at the moment,we have to be honest and think what any of us,as Barnsley boss, could have said,to convince a player of his pedigree and temperament to sign for us,a club in the least fashionable or wealthy area of the country,(admittedly he did play at Middlesborough),a club who have repeatedly finished close to the bottom of the table, and with a wage scale allegedly less than many 3rd division clubs would offer.I honestly can't think of a single argument I could have put to him, that I would have expected the least degree of interest.....never mind successfully getting his signature.Whether Mido proves to be a great signing or not, only time will tell, but you have to give credit where it's due,and Keith Hill has pulled off a remarkable coup. Well done Mr Hill!!!

Sort of agree with that but I refuse to believe that our wage bill is smaller than most third division clubs.
I wouldn't beleive any of the guesses on here about the wage bill, folk were saying Robins was blowing the lot, until the accounts came out and proved otherwise. We'll find out again next year when the accounts are released.
Its not. Where that comes from is a min-interpretation of what was said when we captured Chris Dagnall - Bradford were offering more. that does not mean they can afford to pay him more it just means they were PREPARED to!
League One clubs are already on £2m less tv money than we are and the vast majority have smaller gate receipts so I think it's complete ******** that their budgets would be as big as ours. Although a couple have benefactors, I'd be surprised if any League One club has a budget as big as ours for the coming season.
I didn't say most....I said many....but with a bit more consideration I would have said some, last season five league 1 clubs had bigger average gates than ours and only 3 in the championship were lower, without doing exact sums,I would say income generated by attendance we are probably in the bottom third of the top 68 clubs in english football, but the point I was making was Hill must have advanced a good case generally, when you consider how unattractive ,apart from the Vaz Te issue,we are probably seen as a Club.
There are 72 clubs in the Football League. 48 of which receive at least £2m less than we do in TV money. At a conservative estimate I would say at least 48 have lower attendances than we do and probably charge less too. You don't need to do even very approximate sums to see you're miles off if you think 48 clubs in the FL have a bigger income than we do.
