    Sheff Utd match at 12.15

Mind, we deserve it, with our reputation for wanting to use the toilets at Chesterfield.

It's time we told the police where to go on these kick off times.

Id say alot of the factor behind the plod is not barnsley fans but blunts.
Whereas we have mobs of puberts all pumped for a 'do' sufc are having the same not just wi kids but proper misters as well...

I don't believe it helps when the club highlight every indiscretion by Barnsley fans. Don't get me wrong, football hooliganism should not be swept under the carpet. I don't like bad behaviour and I certainly don't like being surrounded by it at football games. The thing is, I'm not. Never at home games, either in town before and after the game (unless it's away fans) or at the match. But, other than boisterousness, very seldom at away games either. There's some that travel to away games that I wouldn't like to spend an evening in a nice restaurant with, but they don't break the law, they're just a bit lairy.

Apparently, we're top of the league table when it comes to arrests, our kick off times are continually moved for safety reasons, and our expenditure on policing is through the roof. This all seems very odd to me when I go to 30+ Barnsley games per season and rarely if ever see any trouble at all. Either I'm the luckiest man in the world and I'm constantly just avoiding it, or it's not actually happening. Not nearly to the extent of what we're led to believe anyway.

When I go to away games, the atmosphere amongst the local constabulary, before anything has happened at all, is often tense as though they're waiting for it to all kick off, itching for a fight or to arrest someone.

If our club are continually advertising that we have a badly behaved fan base, which is what appears to be the case to me, isn't that more likely to result in an anxious police force more likely to make arrests? Would it mean that they feel the need to deploy more officers than is actually required? Would they feel the need to move kick off times? Would they be charging the club more money to police games?

I believe it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. Tell all and sundry we're badly behaved and they'll treat us with contempt. Treat people with contempt and they will behave badly.

Yep.. the cheap tickets we LondonTykes have to book way in advance are now bloody expensive tickets once again...

Is there any proof that bringing KO to an earlier slot reduces crowd trouble? The silly buggers just start drinking earlier and if they wanna fight then they will.

If they're gonna do this EVERY YEAR then bloody advertise it as a 12:15 ko from the off.

    Not happy.

It's a simple case of child care for me. I'll probably miss it because I can't arrange any that early.

I wonder if SYP charge 2 clubs for the some of the same officers on the same day. Have em nipping darn to Rotherham for end of their game after ours.

Government cuts to police budgets means they have to get their money from somewhere else.

Looks like our Millwall of the north reputation is making South Yorkshire's finest more like West Yorkshire who have had Leeds/Huddersfield fixtures early starts for years.

Doesn't particularly bother me as it means less waiting around when you wake up and gets you home for Soccer Saturday at three. Club will be pleased too saving on the floodlights.

Wouldn't be too sure about that. Look at the Swindon match - sun blazing down at kick off and the lights were on full. Sun stayed out virtually all the way through to the end . The lights stayed on. How STUPID was that?

Once they are on, can't they be powered down quickly or something? Would love to hear an explanation why money was wasted like that

I think it's a football league rule isn't it? After a certain date the floodlights have to be on. Sure I remember reading that a few years ago.

The local authorities have a few months to change the kick off time to earlier so that people can still go. I think this happened when we played Chester so their fans could get to Oakwell.

So if it's an inconvenience, don't go. Everyone has had enough notice to make their own decision but i expect they'll be people going and then moaning about it for days.
