That commentary winds me right up. Just needed to get that off my chest. Sky forever playing it as if it's a classic.
That whole day annoyed me. I remember watching it in a pub in Motherwell. Half of the pub were Man City "fans" and the other half Man Utd "fans" Plastic-fecking-tastic.
it was classic moment in the history of the premier league to be fair P72.....the commentary was nowt special though. The classic commentary moment goes to Andy Gray though (as much as I didn't like the git) with his reaction to Stevie G's goal against Olympiakos in 2005. As for Barnsley classic commentary.....cannot remember much recently apart from 'oh dear Barnsley concede another one!' hth
Radio Sheffield commentary for Odejayi's goal against Chelsea? Or the Soccer Saturday reaction to Brian Howard's winner at Anfield? Commentary for Darren Barnard's volley against Huddersfield?
Paul Walker's Radio Sheffield commentary for JCR's goal at Hillsborough? "top corner, kop end at Hillsborough, absolute magic"
Agreed. Commentaries in the old days were more spontaneous and at times more charming. These days, commentators seem more aware of the need to dramatize. Your example is a case in point, to me it never sounded like an authentic reaction.
The Aguero commentary was brilliant. The looks on all the plastic Man Utd fans faces in Barnsley Walkabout in their replica shirts was priceless & something I'll not forget
From what I saw the emotion from the City fans was about as raw as it could get. It was a fantastic moment and for me the commentary was perfect.
The best of the lot IMHO. "Banks won't make it, or will he? Yes he will......Glavin coming to the near post, Aylott further over, and that's a really super goal............oh that's a super goal" 1981
Best commentary I remember was tranmere away fair few years ago. Think we were 2-0 down and we won 3-2 . Commentator asking the police to arrest the Barnsley players for robbery haha Sure tranmere manager got the sack after this result Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
