...If you miss, atleast you will be amongst the stars. I wasn't expecting that. 3 goals and a more than comfortable win over a team that had just gone to the league leaders and drawn 2-2! No, not at all. Ferenczi and Rajzki. Theres no amount of superlatives i can throw there way after last night, the passion, the determination, the workrate, the ability to do the basics with so much ease. It was all there, and the goals were top drawer - give them a chance and they will take it. International class. Nyatanga. Great performance lad, the composure, the reading of the game and the basic defending ability - for an 18 year old was splendid, easy to see why he is an International at only 18. Great signing. Fitted in along side Reid with aplomb. The overall team performance was good, not spectacular, but good. But one thing that was spectacular was the work rate, when you see the players running their blood to water for the cause - then you get the feeling, that these guys truly do want to represent the team and really appreciate the fans. The fight WAS there. That's the thing about fighting. Sure, skill is important. Sure strength matters. But endurance can overcome anything. It doesn't matter what it is - as long as you're throwing punches after the other team has stopped throwing punches, you've won the fight. Take Britain during WW2 - in 1941, Hitler had a) Beaten France in 6 weeks. b) Conquered the entirety of Eastern Europe c) Invaded Russia and annihilated massive swathes of the Red Army in every engagement. d) Forced the British into a humiliating retreat at Dunkirk where we'd lost something in the region of 100 000 men killed or captured (out of a 400 000 strong army which was all we had), and forced us to abandon practically every single tank, artillery piece, APC, jeep, truck rifle and bullet that we had on the beaches of Northern France. So what did Churchill do? What was his grand strategy? What was his masterplan? He kept punching. He just did not give in. That was it. The British Cabinet were practically unanimous in wanting to discuss peace terms. He just said no. He just refused to give in, in the face of all logic and reason. Don't give up. That is the first thing. Just keep punching. All Reds fans should be proud. Of course, not of the football - it wasnt spectacular, but do praise that. Be proud of the fight... Be proud of the men in red... Be proud to be a Barnsley fan. Ever Yours. Poet
