as i gazed around the ponty yesterday it brought back so many memorys of the good times we had and i think when it got going there was not a match this season that could have beaten it. Well it got me thinking if us as fans where more passionate about the team would we have won more games then we have?
team has to do something to help us Hard to get passionate about some of the garbage we've seen this year!
RE: team has to do something to help us Especially as %80 orf fans dont want Davey and cannot get excited by anything he does or says
even still just think if we did our part we might have got the odd more win. We are probably some of the worst fans in this division at home which is hard to admit but i feel true.
1 big reason a lot of excitement is generated by attacking play that carries forward attack after attack and grows. How many fans actually expect one of our attacks to end in a goal anymore and just sit there with fingers crossed and hope
so basically every fan at every club only gets behind the team like we did yesterday when they are winning?
When has crowd noise been a factor in a team winning? Highbury used to be known as the library - never stopped them winning things</p>
Inever said winning I said scoring goals theres a massive difference. Even if we lost say 3-2 or 4-3 the fans would be on there feet urging the players on if they could sense an end product
To some extent It is a two way street but in fairness to the players Oakwell must have been a horrible place to play this year. Its been incredibly tense and negative from the first day of the season in the stands and i think that transmits itself to the pitch. i don't necessarily mean in a cheering on sense but in getting on players backs or even just groans at mistakes. that creates a nervous atmosphere which causes more mistakes. That said for the fans not to do that would mean surpressing human nature
Tbh, i prefer to go to away games for that reason... the reds fans when we are away from home make a noise almost all the game, yet our away record is shamboloc, so i can't really see the link between the teams performance and the fans. Also imo, the worst home fans in the league are Ipswich, who were 4-1 up a few years back before they sung a song, and yet they have such a decent home record, (or at least they did prior to this season).
It's not just us. Fans of many clubs will tell you it's quieter than it used to be. Maybe because it's much more expensive than it used to be. People didn't mind throwing away a fiver to be served up *****, but at £20 a pop, more and more people are wanting to be entertained. I know I am. If I wanted to be vociferous I could stand in the town centre singing and shouting for free. And probably see better football. And more goals.
I remember the late eighties and early to mid 90s Like a church in Oakwell. I also remember the late 70s/early 80s and the mid to late 90s when it was fever pitch. When the team are doing well Oakwell is buzzing, when we're not doing so well and the football is a bit flat then so is the crowd.
