I am old enough to have that on a 12" Vinyl LP along with Ziggy Stardust Bowies best 2 albums imo Just had to remember when I was still living with Mum and Dad not to play the title track from the beginning if they were in Reight song and Regiht album (and nearly 40 years old!!!)
Brilliant album. It was said that the title refered to his brother who was mentaly unstable----a lad in sain. Don't know how true it is thou.
Good shout, it was a great period with the Iggy albums Idiot/Lust For Life, Patti Smith - Horses/Easter and Lou Reeds Berlin LP, though that wasn't recorded in Berlin. A bit bleak for some but right up my alley. I like very early Bowie, the quirky folky stuff too Love You Til Tuesday, little Bombardier etc.
I wonder why he doesn't tour anymore? In fact I was half expecting him to make an appearance at the Olympics closing gig - instead we got some curtain-siders and a load of bints (including a bint bloke).
Last time he toured in 2004 he had to cancel a lot of the dates at the end of the tour as he needed to have emergency surgery on an acutely blocked artery. He seems to have gone into retirement since then.
I can tell you he's had problems with his heart had to have op but to me he's the most influential artist ever in British music a legend!
