IPSWICH Town striker Alan Lee today said he believed Barnsley defender Dennis Souza had deliberately elbowed him in the face during last night's game.

Lee added that he had been told by the referee not to react to the alleged incident.

He also said ref Darren Drysdale had told him he would look at the video of the match and take a view on the incident Souza was accused of being involved in.

The matter may then be forwarded to the FA if Drysdale believes there is a case against the Tykes' player.

If any action is taken against Souza it could result in him missing the FA Cup semi-final against Cardiff.

Lee, who said he was unsure whether he was inside the box when fouled soon after the alleged elbowing offence, admitted that the players deserved their after-match dressing down by the manager.

Lee said: “Our heads went down at 2-1. That is not right and the gaffer was right to have a go.

“There is no excuse for how we ended the game.

“But we had a couple of penalty calls, their keeper made some great saves - and we hit the bar twice.

“I think I must have broken a mirror at some stage, as I have struck the woodwork about six times recently.

“I feel sharp and ready to go again, but was left disappointed by the game.

“We have nine huge matches left starting with Charlton on Saturday.”

    ******

last 20 minutes they were a disgrace. Bairning to the ref, trying for penalties - just like their manager, Magilton was a mawngy **** as a player, seems his side have inherited it when things don't go their way.

    The thing I can't believe

Is why he would turn against us like this.

Especially as his goal effectively kept us up last season:D

Unless he is right of course

A fe minutes before their free kick he did complain to the referee about something and the ref did go and have a word to souza about it. If it's true then souza deserves to be banned (no excuse for violence) if Lee made it up then he should be given the ban instead.

    Unless it was accidental

In which case no need to take action against either player

Steady On.... we were cheering him this time last year!

Didn't he keep us up and send L**ds down with a last minute goal?

    No, he didn't

We also finished above Hull. He made no difference to us staying up or not.

Still think McCann is better than Hassell?

Hopefully the video will show it as accidental then

But hasnt souza been accused of elbowing a few times this season? Someone should tell him to keep his arms down, if they arent up near someones face you cant get accused of it
