If this Nixon chap on twitter is right there are some questions that need to be asked of our clubs senior management. Before I get accused of anything, I'm one of the blind followers. Season ticket holder and away game attendee (no not one of our trouble causing element, I'm too old for that nonesense) so I do support the club through it all despite it's failings time and again. All through the summer I've been one of the 'trust in LJ' and 'better to wait for quality rather than quantity' group. Or happy clappers as we are often labelled. Anyway I digress. Mr Nixon for the umpteenth time this morning has left comments about feeling sorry for our manager and our inability despite talks with numerous players to get deals over the line. He's claiming we want two fullbacks and still two forwards and it's not LJ holding these deals up, nor the selling clubs. What on earth are we playing at? No we can't pay over the odds of course but come on this is starting to get silly now. Let's put it this way.....if we know Holgate is going, why aren't the replacements in the building before he's gone? We have the finances in place (supposedly as some of our bids suggest) and has been shown with other signings. Even if we used money from elsewhere then paid that back immediately with the Holgate funds then thats preferable to what we are currently doing. I honestly believe LJ knows who he wants and what he's doing but we need to back the guy! That's enough from me. I only post drivel. Back in my box!
Who is this Alan Nixon fella, and why does everyone seem to pay such close attention to what he says? Seems to say a lot.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Journo for The Sun. Seems to have a lot of contacts in the game and breaks a fair few stories before they hit any of the football headlines. He definitely broke the Mawson stuff a long time before anyone else. Doesn't appear to be a scattergun type guy where only 1 in 10 of his rumours are right. Definitely has a better conversion rate than that.
Instead of feeling sorry for Johnson why doesn't he ask why we've used our budget signing so many central midfielders & not bringing in forwards & full backs?
Wouldn't have thought so when you look at how many high earners we've just off loaded and replaced with young lads who don't count towards ftp.
It will if wages push budget over the limit, let's wait and see shall we. Think Saturday's 2nd half performance will have shown LJ and Patrick which positions need attention.
I find it amusing folk seem to hang on his every word. He's the parallel of Biggs in my opinion. Just someone speculating trying to put paper talk together
I wouldn't say I hang on his every word, I just thought I'd highlight that we may be having issues that our outside of Johnsons control. We may also not be granted. Plus it's a more interesting topic than talking about us being Millwall or the Police taking away human rights. Parallel of Biggs is a harsh comment. Surely there is only one person that odious around here? I wonder if he's still trying to get COG a move to Sheff Utd.
I think the whole transfer process is much more complicated than we realise. There are so many factors involved: The transfer windows still has 3 weeks before it closes; Some agents are impossibly difficult to deal with; Other clubs awareness of our potential incoming funds; Players of the sort of quality LJ is looking for not wanting to play L1 football; Players and clubs hanging on for the best deal possible; Players not wanting to or reluctant to live in Barnsley/the North; The FFP rules; To name a few. There are so many examples of protracted transfers in all Divisions so I think it is unfair to lay all blame at the door of the senior management. That said, I don't know the inner workings of our club. My guess is that we aren't closing deals for a number of reasons, not simply ineptitude.
If Alan Nixon says it's so, then it must be true even tho I was told he worked for the Mail, or was it Mirror but now the Sun apparently. Oh and he's twitting it as well.....I think Alan Nixon is a pseudonym for Russel Brand.
If that's a general comment fair enough. If it's aimed at me you might want to read the OP again. With the first line being 'if this Nixon chap is right'. At no point do I proclaim that he's preaching the football gospel. Just pointing out what's in the media.
Agree with those points , if you are a players agent you'll be advising your client to hang fire to see how much we get for Stones and Holgate so we can afford to pay more in wages under SFTBWXYZ or whatever it is
We don't have Financial Fair Play in this division, it's SCMP (Salary Cost Management Protocol), a much more strictly enforced system. http://www.financialfairplay.co.uk/scmp.php It is this system that is preventing us signing players. If you don't believe me, read the letter from Mr Cryne, sent to those who had not renewed their season tickets. We have the money, via the help of Patrick Cryne, to afford the initial transfer fees, but not the income to pay the players what they want and keep the wage budget within 60% of turnover. With such a small inexperienced squad and one of the largest fan bases in the division, that does beg the question, what the hell are we paying our players?
