"I wasn't happy with his penalty.

It was a chance for his hat-trick in a game before the World Cup and he tried to dink it in.

You have to be a special player to be able to do that - and I don't think he is at that stage yet."

And you're a cheating lovely person who stood on Neil Lennons head, nothing special in that!!

He was but for his faults he could take a cracking penalty and knew where the back of the net was!

at what point does someone become a cheat?

A lot of barnsley fans said that shuker was diving all over when he played against us for Hartlepool.

Richards and Devaney have both taken more than the odd dive for barnsley this season.

Chopra was the same when he played for us and it wasnt rare to see him deliberatly leaving a leg in, pushing or even appearing to stamp on the opposition.

RE: at what point does someone become a cheat?

I've always said Shearer is a cheat, he's done it all his career and got away with it.

I never saw Shuker play against us so I can't comment, but I do admit I've seen Richards take the odd tumble this season.

But, surely, a cheat is someone who tries to gain an advantage in an unfair manner, be it diving like Shearer or whoever, or like the AC Milan keeper Dida does with penalties by jumping about 4 yards forward before the spot kick is taken.

Everyone has their different opinions, I suppose.

your definition includes richards though doesn it?

taking a tumble is an attempt to win a freekick dishonestly in order to gain an advantage.

Don't get me wrong, I think that shearer is a cheat but so are 90% of professional footballers and the people to blame are their managers for not fining them. Take for example Andy Ritchie saying that he occasionally sees our players going to ground far too easily in and around the box. In my mind a strong and honest manager would fine the players in question.

Again, dont get me wrong, i'm not singling Ritchie out, he is just the easiest example because I remember him saying it just a few weeks ago. Most managers are the same.

That's very fair of you but I would profer the view that Shearer is a bigger cheat because his foul play and diving caused us a FA Cup Quarter final place and got Adie Moses sent off. Surely we are allowed to be parochial. In the same vain Owen and Beckham are also a set of gits!

By the way no discussion about which Barnsley palayers go to ground early could fail to include ....Brian Howard....goes down as if he's been shot and maimed for life!
