What did people think to him as a player. He played between 2000/1 and 2003/4. I thought he wasn't helped signing straight after Hignett left. Totally different style of player. I expected great things from him but was left with a meh feel. He's never spoken about though. I wonder if that's a compliment for him in a way. He isn't in the same bracket as Dave Regis, Paul Gibbs, Mike Flynn, Kennedy, Shea, Frimpong or Wiseman.
I think the club had bigger issues at the time and while he was never an adequate replacement for Hignett he also wasn't stand out awful.
Scored with a header against Preston with a broken nose. Always liked him after that. Probably not the best in terms of quality we’ve had but he always gave it a go
Played for us at the clubs darkest time. As stated above, average. Not great, but not abysmal. Stick him in the same pond as Sam Togwell, Gary Gardner, Liam Lawrence and Cameron McGeehan.
Backwards or sideways with every pass is how I remember him. Correction, I'm getting him mixed up with Grant McCann, honestly don't think I can remember much about Alex at all.
When he signed, John Dennis was reported in the Comical as saying Alex was going to “Set the Division alight.” He didn’t.
