BARNSLEY are tracking Manchester City striker Alex Tchuimeni-Nimely with a view to trying to sign the player on loan or a potential permanent deal in January.

The 21-year-old striker has been highly-regarded by the Premier League champions and penned a four-year deal with the club in April.

But the Liberia striker, who has represented his country and England at Under-20s level, has understandably struggled to break into the Blues’ first-team with a number of top pedigree strikers occupying the starting and squad roles.

Last season, he played 17 games – 16 starts and one substitute performance – on loan at Coventry City in The Championship.

But the youngster, who also had a loan spell with Middlesbrough between September and December 2011, has not played any games this season but it is understood City could loan the player out to get some much needed first-team football under his belt.

The Star has also learned that Hill, who has cast his net far and wide in search of a new striker, is also interested in signing Stoke City’s Cameron Jerome or Swansea City’s Luke Moore.

Both players are believed to fit the mould of player Hill wants to bring to Oakwell to play alongside leading scorer Craig Davies, who is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury but there are fears he could leave the club when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Hill may decide to hand goalkeeper Luke Steele his first appearance of the season at Hull today.

Didn't Nimely score against us for Coventry? Looked a decent player. Can't see us getting Jerome with the likes of Blackburn registering an interest in him.

I'd love Alex Nimely, Simon Church or Calum McManaman. Not so fussed about Cameron Jerome or Luke Moore. Albeit, they're much more interesting than Marcus Tudgay, Chris O'Grady and David McGoldrick.
Think Nimely would be best - pace to burn, and clever feet.
