Alfie has improved immensely over the last few games in my opinion. It may be as a result of him no longer being captain on the pitch, but he seems to have matured into the player I first thought we were getting when he signed up. It may also be that playing alongside Long has provided him with a better balance and an experienced colleague to depend on. To my mind they have developed a good rapport allowing Alfie to go forwards with confidence. Sure he occasionally goes too far, but he is still learning. They were up against quite a man mountain of a player yesterday and yet their guy hardly got a look in. Alfie got lots of stick before but in my opinion his improvement is one of the reasons why we have improved as a team, he is just unsung, so I'm singing for him.
I thought Alfie was brilliant yesterday and I hope this is what he wanted to be like when he first joined. He also does lots of charity off the field which is an added bonus
Agree with all of that Improved last few games And more like the player he was at the start of season Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We have to remember we have a very young and inexperienced player. He has the ability but he is now adjusting to the pace and style for L1. He didn't look comfortable alongside Nayatanga and looks the opposite with Long. Also we have a better settled and balance across the back four where we changed the formation or players every week first half of the season, even pushing him to midfield. Let's not forget also we have good midfield cover and Davies is now consistent and gives confidence to the defence. Just hope we can keep long as it will help Alf develop further. Some goals too, is that 5 now?
Some people on here must not have been watching all season cos he's been brilliant from the start ...
I think people forget how young he is. He will be a very good player for us. All he needs is experience.
agree with most of this, but i think kevin long has played a huge part in mawson's improvement. for me he's been absolutely rock solid since he's come in
Part of the reason for this is that we are a more attacking team at the moment and playing at the reight end of the park thus less defending to do, also we seem to have got out of the habit of dropping deep late in matches when winning by the odd goal. Still credit to both, Long impressed me yesterday.
