I have just read where Brentford are to receive approx £600 000 from the sale of Mawson to Fulham , the article highlights that Barnsley will receive £1.5 million of which £600 k of that goes to Brentford , so it looks like we will be getting less than £1 million from the sell on . I have posted this before there is a clammer for us to spend all the extra millions some fans think we are getting. The article is on the Newsnow football site
£600k is a big sell on amount given they have already received one after he moved from us to Swansea.
From their point of view that's very sound business especially as the fee we paid them is reported to have been minimal.
Makes sense - he was very highly regarded while at Brentford if I remember correctly. Definitely not as much of a 'discovery' as other players we've had, because I think everybody knew that he'd go on to much bigger things.
I could be wrong but I think both Brentford & Luton have used this practice on a regular basis with their sales. I believe that Brentford have had couple of returns from their sale of Gray
We d do the same . 900k is still a tidy profit on top of what we ve made already out of Mawson . I don't see many other league one clubs pulling in that amount of cash without a player sale .
True , but wait for our fans demanding signings on the back of the extra millions we have been perceived to have got, already , some on Facebook are stating that we are getting upwards of 2.25 million which does not appear to be the case.
Does anyone know what the fee is cos I'm pretty sure we had a 15% sell on unless it was a sell on fee from the profit of the transfer
It doesn't matter how much we've made from him. We could have been given the full 20 million from Fulham and it still wouldn't have been invested in the playing squad. I've given up on trying to figure out how the finances work.
Well to be fair you could well be right but even if it goes into players wages, the academy or the general running of the club , it is certainly very welcome after the short fall following relegation , the club needs a lot of income to function .
Agreed . Were currently running a budget not too dissimilar to last season when we was receiving far more TV money . I'd probably guess this recent windfall will be used to maintain that expenditure .
Fans don't demand anything. They just post on message boards saying what they would like to see it. Which clubs ignore. That's not making a demand.
We did , but still not sustainable at league one level without additional income such as the additional 900k we ve just recieved .
Sure I read the squad all had relegation clauses written in to their contracts would imagine the playing budget is way lower than last season
