Was just watching RAI news 24 and there is a big demo going on in Paris about changes to Employment legislation etc. Rai reporter and cameramen in the thick of it. He was speaking to camera when the tear gas started flying again and then the water cannon wagon started coming down the street. Loads of media and bystanders moved to one side but the water cannon fired raking from side to side knocking the camera man and others flying. Just as the studio had cut to the reporter he looked like he was refusing someone trying to help him as he looked like he was suffering from being teargassed. Never seen UK reporters in the thick of it like that.

Riot police look very heavy handed and reactive rather than preventative even against theirn own population so you cant accuse them of being anti-British!! One or two people floored by police just for standing there (albeit with anti government banners and wearing masks - Although largely as protection against the gas) Did not seem to be any rioting prior to the water cannon and riot police wading in - just people chanting and milling around.

26 injured so far and 15 arrests!
