I remember that Aldridge penalty miss like it happened 5 minutes ago.

Currie, Biggins, Rambo Redders... always going to score goals wi them hanging around

For us who were lucky enough to watch such players... and better. Thats why we can say with a bit of knowledge that some of the lads we have now are just not good enough..

Biggins was 32 and a proven goalscorer. Would have cost us millions in transfer fees and wages today.

Redfearn was 26 when he joined us, already a seasoned pro.

Drop the players you mentioned aged 19-20 into a second tier side without any experienced players around them to bring them along, and they would have looked just as lost as our current lot do sometimes.

Don't get me wrong, I loved watching the players you mention, but the game has moved on since then. Obviously we could do with Redfearn in our midfield right now, but Rammell up front in place of Tom Bradshaw would not be anywhere near ten goals. I just think that the overall standard is much higher these days.

I wouldn't mind seeing what David Currie would look like in the modern era though. A totally unique player, one of the most exciting I've ever had the pleasure of watching.

Currie like Glavin would be an absolute star in the modern game. Ability never gets old.
