It's pretty important, since we're paying interest on the debt, which then governs how much can be spent on public services. Don't see how you can claim "it's absolute ********."
I dislike the ribbing that Ed gets based on personality. He's not polished but he comes across as more honest than most politicians. Most of the stick has been based on his voice and his facial appearance. But this gaffe is pretty poor on what was one of the key moments of his Leadership. Yeah he didn't use notes but couldn't he have had a bullet point list with *) NHS *) Child Benefit *) Deficit on it?? Chuff me, I'd chide a GCSE student for not doing that (which they have to do in their exam)
The interview on Channel 4 News was hilarious, asked him about the "normal people" he meets, he said it was to get away from the "Westminster bubble" and Jon Snow responded that he wasn't getting very far away as some were in Hampstead!
The uk is in a stronger financial position than it has been for most of the post war period. Unfortunately we are run by economic illiterates on all sides who manipulate the facts for political purpose
He doesn't help himself at times - on the Channel 4 News interview he was pushed on the deficit thing and Jon Snow asked why he would forget it when it is the most important issue, and Ed just waffled on when surely the best response would have been to say "I disagree, whilst it is an important issue it isn't the most important issue for all those people who are struggling.....", he managed to come around to that about 5 mins later but it was there to just hit straight back at. Those people who are struggling to make ends meet, looking for work, not getting a pay rise etc - to them the deficit isn't the most important thing. Yes, it could be argued that reducing it would help other areas but it most certainly isn't the average person's most important issue. I'm signed up for the online YouGov polls and everytime it comes up I say I would vote Labour if there was an election tomorrow but when asked in the next question as to who makes the best PM, i.e. is more Prime Ministerial, who looks the part, then I'm sorry but I have to say Cameron, as much as I dislike the guy.
The guy is totally inept, foisted on us by the stupid unions. If anyone is capable of giving Cameron a second term it's this idiot. Giving the Tories an easy target like this is unprofessional and unforgivable. Pity it's too late to dump him before the next election.
I'd rather he concentrated on, and continued being a good constituency MP. However - future defence secretary.
I wonder what your stance would have been IF Cameron had "forgotten" to talk about... Would have been "******" then and not the "Over riding Issue" Glass houses.... stones.... spring to mind here.
