Just a short one to wish him all the best at Norwich. The only way we can survive is by enticing players or developing them for fiscal return. I have seen this so many times over the years,, i can remember not eating me chips one night because we`d sold Micky Butler to Town. Small clubs need this transfer revenue,, unless we get another 8,000 season ticket holders this is how its going to be. Even Man Utd had to sell their best player to Real Madrid didnt they? Its **** i know, but thats my angle on it.
I remember mick butlers mother in law living next door to me and I'd regularly have a kickaround with him, I'd only be about 7 or 8 years old but I remember been the envy of my mates, it was like having messi in the back garden lol!
I'm jealous of you, too One of my three all-time Barnsley heroes (along with Ronnie Glavin & Pat Howard).
I've tried telling my lad all about it but unfortunately it just goes whooosh! Thing is I was getting excited again telling him heehee!
Oh for a Mick Butler now, didn't he once break his leg twice in one season and still score over 20 goals! and I'm sure he got a hatrick in 3 consecutive matches
Rightly so When I was little Pat Howard lived just round the corner from me in a flat in Gilroyd. Bestist defender in the world EVER!!
I remember arguing with one of my mates in junior school that mick butler was better than pele so much so that it ended up in a my dad can fight your dad type argument but still my mate wouldn't have none of it until he started coming with me and my dad to the matches and he had to concede that pele indeed couldn't lace r micks boots lol!
Well as I've got older I did realise that pele was better player and probably the best player in the world....but Mick runs him a close second and that's all down to those kickabouts in my garden heehee!
In my opinion Pele is the greatest player ever. He had no weakness to his game and could do everything.
He did in a 4-3 win at Newport and then week after at home to Rochdale in a 5-3 win. Fine player and I also was gutted when we sold him for £20,000.
Aye up old buddy Hope you & yours are all well, mate. Redfearn??? Pah! Not fit to lace Glavin's boots!!
My first hero as a Red's fan....hence the username! 9 stone wet through but lightening quick and as tough as they come. Took some fearful hammerings from bruiser centre halves and came back from two broken legs. A true Barnsley FC legend.
