10 out of tonight's starting 11 were either brought to the club or given new contracts at the club while Ritchie was manager. That tonight was virtually the team that Ritchie thought would keep us in this league. He was unwilling to bring new players in so if he were still in the job that would be what we would be turning out every week. That is why Ritchie was sacked. I agreed totally with that decision and I am not going to change my opinion now. Unfortunately what we have done since sacking Ritchie has been a disgrace. Cheap easy option appointed as boss and 3rd rate cheap lower league players brought in. Davey must already be on borrowed time after tonight and in my book he should stand down if he has any decency. That does not mean the dismissal of Ritchie was wrong. It's the subsequent lack of ambition that is costing this club.
Ritchie Didn't Want To Bring Players In Because........ He Said, The Players Were No Better Than What We Already Have
Only 1 Player Davey Has Brought In Is Better Than What We Already Have
Thats Eckersley, Better Than Heckingbotom.

Your post reads as though the board's change of direction happened as soon as Ritchie when out the door. Can you not see that it is the self same board that Ritchie had to put up with and the Ritchie merely kept his mouth closed and got on with the job.
Unwillling to bring players in? reason: Shepherd pays peanuts. Not Richies fault the club are in the dark ages.
Those Players Wanted to play for Ritchie, they fought and gave everything for him, they never knew when they were beaten. Ritchie was not the Best manager in the world , but he could motivate a team . Yes we needed new players , but he did say that he didnt want to bring in players that were no better than the ones we already had, He made a mistake saying that he wanted to give the players a chance , should have signed some BETTER players, not ones from the 4th Division
When Richie was sacked we weretold by Mr Cryne that we would be getting an experienced manager. Had that happened I believe we could have stayed up. At the end of the season people will blame the sacking of Ritchie for us going down when in fact we were going down anyway. The only hope now is for Shepherd to be big enough to admit that Davey was a mistake and change manager again. I won't hold my breath and I won't go near Oakwell until it happens.
What?? Yes they are the side Richie started the season with but the main difference is Richie's not ere to inspire em any more. I keep saying this and I will till I'm blu int face.... Richie wanted a couple of proven Championship calibre players to enhance the squad and keep the team spirit by not changing personnel too much. NOT to bring in half a team of loan signings and 3rd and 4th division players who are no better than what we've got. We knew we'd struggle to stay up but I'm disgusted that we haven't tried to sign a couple of Championship quality players. We got Togwell who is worse than McPhail and McIndoe who's contract wasn't worth a toss.
RE: What?? Ritchie collected a massive 4 points from his last 10 games at the club. That's how much he inspired em.
RE: Those Players Don't go all dewy eyed about it. Those players may have given everything for Ritchie but it became evident everything was not enough. As as for not knowing when they were beaten, against Sunderland, Coventry and Palace they came out of the bloody tunnel a beaten side before a ball was kicked. The rot had set in and Ritchie had no answers to turn it around.
Now we have Davey. Who, when losing 2-0 at home to the bottom of the league, brings on one sub - a like-for-like striker swap. Or to put it another way, when the chips are down, he doesn't have any idea how to change things. Sounds like another like-for-like swap to me. I don't think for a minute Davey will turn us around any time soon and I am at a loss as to why he was appointed. But if Davey is the wrong man, it doesn't make Ritchie the right man by default. Ritchie needed to make way for a man who can manage a Championship club. Sadly the Chairman only went half way - he got rid of the inadequate Ritchie but did not replace with quality.
Now we have a Championship club run by someone who has never previously run a football club, managed by someone who has never managed a football club, and a squad of whom maybe 5 have played a game at this level prior to this season. From top to toe, everyone at the club is hopelessly out of their depth and we're sinking fast.
Be it a captain on the field, a manager in the dugout or a director in the boardroom, leadership is needed fast.
