you are right, but each time he's started this season he looks like he's trying to do summat....time for a start for him in my opinion.
That was in his first season and was only a minority of fans. Last season and this I haven't heard anybody say anything negative about Jim.
What's ridiculous about cheering for a BARNSLEY player, who had a great season last year, until his injury? Whipping boy? I don't think so. By his own admission, he had a poor start to his career at Barnsley, but he didn't get booed, and he was a firm favourite last year.
I don't remember the kind of criticism that Wiseman's performances are getting, being levelled at JOB....and neither should they
Only one player at Oakwell being treated harshly. That's Bobby Hassell, who is a better central defender than Wiseman and McNulty, and a better right back than wiseman, yet his manager, who insists on signing midfielders, and then playing defenders in midfield, has decided that the only place he'll play him is ... In midfield. Players who get dropped because they are out of form cannot complain, they just have to work hard to get back. Jim O Brien was man enough to admit he didn't perform that first season. If he can move on, I'm not sure why you can't.
Tyrone.........difference is O'Brien's first season was one where he openly admits was a learning exercise and he was below his normal performance level. Then take the next season (which was actually last season) and he was first-class in his endeavour and contribution both attacking and defensive covering when required. O'Brien needs to be in starting XI on wing and if that means dropping Mellis/RNL, then I'd be OK with it. Maybe Cwyska on other wing?
I think the reason why a lot of people like obrien is because... He showed the strength of character to come through the criticism and improve his game. When he plays, he puts 110% in, runs his knackers off, never hides and most importantly, contributes significantly to the positive things happening on the pitch. Fans appreciate that sort of thing and if the current whipping boys wiseman/mcnulty/done are fighters and have a resolve to come through it and start to perform similary, they too will get the plaudits.
I have to agree with you there Tyrone he did and like Wiseman I personally dont think he was as bad as made out on here, but then I dont think Hassell is as bad or as good as some make him out to be either. Some of yer feckers would argue to the bitter end and say anything to win a confrontation on here. Extremists.
