...can anyone else see he's building for the future here?

he's brought in a nucleus of young good talent that could play in a division above - ala howard, devaney, hayes (someone bite) and heckingbottom

along with the likes of reid hassell kay and flinders we have a good set of players to build a team around.

anyone that disagrees teks it up the wrong un - dry.

Know what you mean but you picked a couple of poor examples in Heckingbottom (28) and Devaney (26).

    I agree.
We need to keep a team/manager together for awhile and build on what we've got. The changes that go on year in year out isn't healthy. Ritchie's mainly added from last seasons finishing squad, and we've improved. The same again this summer if were still to be in league one and we'll be even better next time round.

Some people have nothing better to do.

the chesterfield comment summed it up last night I thought...

they set off well, and don't have strength in depth.

The have injuries and suspensions and are now suffering "free fall".

the first job AR has done, is ensure cover in EVERY position. So we don't suffer in the same way.

He is now building a SQUAD. This looks to me as Plan 1. Plan 2 would be then to replace with better players, and build up a better stonrger squad.

We are on the right track, finances building and getting better.

Like he said, we have in some respects over achieved. It is now something to build on.

Rome wasn't built in a day. (or a season if you like)..

we are starting to go places. If we can keep the stronger nucleus of the team next season, if we haven't achieved it, then watch us go for it next season (WHICH INCIDENTLY IS BACK TO THE 2 YEAR PLAN THAT WAS STATED RIGHT AT THE OUTSET OF THIS SEASON)

He has made one or 2 strange decisions, but hey, he can learn from his mistakes. No one is perfect, but he can only get better IF GIVEN THE CHANCE.

WE CANNOT AFFORD TO START AGAIN BY GETTING RID.

    Agreed

You buy better than you have and then move your team player as reserve

i want to go up now!

but if not as you say all being well we will be better set next year. and perhaps another year sorting oursleves out may give us a better chance of staying up if we did get up

...hold your hand up if YOU'VE never made mistakes.

    Thought not.

Look at all the sides at the top - no big-name managers, but they've all been in the job for at least a couple of years.

And haven't achieved any more than Ritchie has in his first season.

Time to get behind the team now we've got 3 months to moan and groan after the season ends, some of the coment's Richie had to field yesterday were a discrace we ought to be proud of what the man has done for us this season.

No mate, I though some of the questions were right into the ribs and totally valid. How would Ritchie have looked if he was only asked comfortable questions and provided his standard soft Barnsley Chronicle answers. I just wish I could have got through to the studio myself. As it was he gave answers, in a roundabout way, to most of what I would have asked, but I would not have been happy if I was Nads.

It looks as if Ritchies critics, like myself, will have to put up with him for at least another season. Theres no way Shepard will bring in a proven manager whilst Ritchie will continue to do the job on the cheap.

I'm not Ritchies greatest fan but I thought he answered the questions quite well. I would have just liked the have seen his body language.

We will see in the Summer if he does bring in the quality player we need to the club or fill it with cheap rejects from League One and Two. Lets see the quality brought in he claims he has been trying to sign.

    His signings so far

have taken us from mid table/relgation no hopers to playoff contenders and people like your good self will not accept the fact that he has done this on a tight budget with one coach/physio and all within 12 months of taking up the post.

    RE: His signings so far

Strikers who can't score, midfielder with broken leg winger always seems to be carrying injury, another winger not deemed good enough to shift wingers picked even when not playing well, (best mates syndrome) and another winger who can't even get on the bench. Some record in the transfer market, not. Add to that he will never be a winner as a manager not ruthless enough. Apart from that hey we nearly didn't have a club at all you know./poo

    Just a cotton pickin' minute...

Way I see it is that the players who are really (were) making the difference ie Shuker, Colgan, Hassle, Burns, McPhail were Hart signings

Howard, Richards and Hayes are doing OK but hardly making the difference.

Just shows how poor Hart was at management but could spot a player or two..

A month ago several people were accepting automatic promotion even champions, wake up smell the coffee Ritchie will take no team forward and that's been my opinion since day one.

Some Barnsley fans judge a manager on 1 months poor form, and now we have someone judging a manager on his first day in charge...
