Yes Jacob was a hard worker and scored the odd goal but to blame his departure on our last seven results is a bit unfair.

In his absence McPhail has improved on his defensive game and Howard when fit has weighed in with some skillful performances and a couple of goals.

Today, like last week at Huddersfield the midfields superiority gave us the right to take the points but we didnt.

The strikers let us down again. Until Chesterfield scored it was a one nil thrashing. It could and should have been many more.

What difference would Burns have made today if any?

Well, presumably Brian Howard would not have played today and he therefore would not have scored.

"They shunt ev let Burns go" is the in statement at the moment.
If Ritchie rues anything come the end of the season it could be not getting another forward.

    Failure to strengthen

Burns was a weakening that could cost us dear.

Though I agree that failure to add a reliable goal scorer HAS been our downfall.

    It's not Ritchie's fault

He tried to sign several strikers, well he now claims he did. Before that he claimed he didnt want any, I guess it just depends on which answer will make him look like a nice guy as to which one he gives you.

To be fair, you wouldn't tell everyone you desperately needed a striker if you were trying to sign one on a limited budget.

neither would you piss the fans off

by saying that you don't want to sign anyone else. Which lets be reight, is exactly what Ritchie did. He then backtracked and changed his story completely.

Plus everyone keeps talking about our limited budget but how amny other managers in this league had 200 grand available to them to try and sign someone? And lets not forget that hayes was 150k, tommy wright was 50 too.

Plus we got 50k for burns didnt we? I believe ritchie's budget has been quite high compared to many other clubs.

We dont miss Burns, Howard and Mcphail are quality

we miss a confident striker who isnt afraid to shoot and is more clinical infront of goal than Hayes/Richards.
Weve got a quality goalkeeper, the best defence in the division, quality midfield, but our strikers let the team down today. I think a striker like Dean Windass/James Hayter would have finished those chances today.
Anyway were BACK IN THE PLAYOFFS! YOOOOOUUUUU REEEEEEEEDDSSSSSSS!

If we are not missing Burns.........................................

How come we have not won a match since he left?

The only variable which has changed has been Burns leaving.

To be honest I think we're better off without Burns in the midfield. I think if we'd had McPhail and Howard fit and playing together all season then we'd be in the top 2 now. I don't think there's a midfield pairing in the division with more quality on the ball than those two and they could both definitely cut it in the Championship. It hasn't been the midfield letting us down it's been the attack, I just wish McPhail would have a few more shots!
