.......just to point summat obvious out 1. he's too slow 2. when he did look half decent it was against lower league opposition 3. If he thinks he's good enough at this level why, by his own admission has he had two shockers so far?? Sentiment says - like the guy Brain says - just not good enough for this level I think if were all honest and leave out the 'well he wants to play for the club' spin - then we'd all agree he wasn't exactly rock solid last year, so as our squad has improved and he doesn't appear to have, the writings on the wall for me - unless he can pull something amazing out of the bag in the next few months.
The thing is, he has the odd game where he's superb, such as Stoke away, but too many strikers catch him out for pace and in the air.
You've just summed him up much quicker than I did - odd brilliant game, too easily beat. At best he's average and his comments on the official site worry me - because he seems to think the criticism is unfair - it's not personal criticism, it's just what thousands of people see with their own eyes every single week. And here's the real clincher - when you have a shocker on the opening day of the season, and go on record saying as much - the one thing you CAN'T do is have another a week later. Like I said - seems a decent league 1 player but wouldn't get in ANY other Chanpionship sides defence - fact.
RE: We signed Reidy as a midfield box to box player cos he lacked pace surprise surprise!! our defence was non existant at the time and he looked better than what we had - and to be fair his passing wasn't that killer either - no change there then??!! remember all this were talking about was against league 1 opposition!!
i always said kay was the better defender and better footballer. but in daveys eyes he was the better drinker too.
