If you had to pick a best 11 that ply their trade in the premiership how many English players would make that 11?
I think you could argue a case for him. I also think you could argue a case for Rooney, Hart and Wilshere but they are by no means certain and I'm struggling after that . . .
On the same theme but a slightly different task...... ...pick an England XI of non-Premiership players which would more than likely beat Montenegro by at least three goals. Actually, that's too easy. It could be accomplished blindfolded using squad lists and a pin.
This would be my England team: - - - GK: Joe Hart RB: Kyle Walker CH: Phil Jones CH: Gary Cahill LB: Ashley Cole DM: Owen Hargreaves LCM: Jack Wilshere RCM: Steven Gerrard RF: Ashley Young LF: Adam Johnson CF: Wayne Rooney - - - Id be happy to go with Smalling or Dawson at the back, or Richards at RB. Parker if Hargreaves fails to get back to his best, maybe Rodwell, Barton otherwise. McEachran, Cleverly, Chamberlain, Walcott, Carroll, Sturridge, Welbeck.. the talents there. But would any of em make a Prem XI? Id say Rooney, Wilshere, Gerrard, Hart and Cole are all world-class on their day, but probably not the best in the Prem.
Reina Rafael Vidic Kompany Evra Tiote Yaya VDVaart Nani Silva Aguero Would hammer the England team. And I am not sure you would really want to change any of them for an English player.
Id swap Evra for Cashley, Id have Essien instead of Tiote, and Gerrard instead of Van der Vaart. Apart from that, that would be my XI. Rooney, Wilshere, Young and Hart wouldnt be far off either, now Ive had a think about it. Told you, the talents there, its the manager thats not..
The issue isn't the quality of the players, or the young players coming through. The issue is the FA. Why do we have a bunch of old businessmen running our game? Continually choosing managers who are totally inept. Surely a committee of people such as Kevin Keegan, Gary Lineker, Bobby Charlton etc would be more appropriate to choose the manager. As for the players, we have 2 excellent keepers. Joe Hart and Ben Foster (I know he's chose not to play for the minute). Right both full back positions look healthy, and centre half. We have young midfielders like Jack rodwell, Jack Wilshere and Ross Barkley who are as good as anything in europe to go alongside the 2 standout midfielders of the last 5-7 years, Gerrard and Lampard. We have an abundance of riches on the wings and up top we have Andy Carroll, who's different to any other striker at the top of the game. I'd also play walcott up top. Hart Walker Richards Jones Cole Rodwell Wilshere Gerrard Johnson Young Carroll
I would also consider playing Rooney in an attacking midfield role, especially should we face spain in a tournament, but Capello doesn't have the ability to be tactically astute or change things. Imagine how Walcott would stretch Puyol and Pique, which would stop Pique building all the attacks. Given the right manager, we'd be the best team in the world, no doubt.
You're brave naming yourself that on here You'd receive less animosity if you called yourself Wife Beating Kiddie Fiddler.
