    we would have signed him in the prem season, the board refused to back him so he reluctantly signed Ashley Ward instead, a far better signing IMHO and showed the board to be correct

    Fecking Dowie? Had Charlton doing anything but football. Playing Cricket and Rugby in training. Everyday! No footballs allowed. Johnny Coachman school of management springs to mind.</p>

    The worst thing about football  (and I love football) is that it turns heroes into villains in the shortest space of time. Danny Wilson, John Hendrie, Andy Ritchie - doesn't matter what they did, they end up being villains in the end. </p>

    I can understand why Ritchie might have to leave, but I can't understand why it has to happen in such a disgraceful fashion.</p>
