It's not on the increase though is it? The papers are just making more of it. It's what's known as a moral panic.
the media causes the problem people are much more likely to carry knives after reading in the paper/seeing on tv that everyone else is carrying them than they are if they don't think others are.
I'd say: "I've made the position perfectly clear" Before mumbling something incoherent on another topic entirely, which would result in howls of delirious forced laughter from a hundred or so senile old ***** and arselickers. Then I'd sit down.
Don't worry - its sorted Gordon has said that he is getting to grips with the problem - he's introducing some really tough parenting classes. That ought to have them worried.
RE: Nobody can say anything about it or the liberals will go fecking barmy nt Because liberals are in favour of knife crime?
It's at a similar level to the last few years and is spiking as it often does, but victims and those carrying knives are getting younger. http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/...be-shown-round-spoon-factories--200807141092/
Folk Devils and Moral Panics-Stanley Cohen.....those were the days when every kid had a flick knife brought back from a school trip abroad , and a throwing knife, and you only got stabbed by accident ,usually in the foot
RE: ITS JUST MEDIA HYPE Apparently the official stats show that violent deaths amongst teenagers has remained as roughly the same levels in the last 10 years - difference is that 10 years ago it was mostly caused by guns - which the government (successfully) had a major crack down on. Got to be time to start getting harsher with the penalties for knife crimes. The vast majority are gang related in London - wouldnt be such a drastic measure to have a focussed police operation to really target known gang members. Locking up a load of the ring leaders would send out the message to their minnions. Daily Mash have done a good take on this: http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/...be-shown-round-spoon-factories--200807141092/
