Before Ritchie our last 3 promotions were under managers in their first management position, two of them in their first season. Paul Hart had experience, as had Nigel Spackman, as had Steve Parkin. Let the board invite applications and let them take their time to make sure they appoint the right man. Experience is one plus point but it's not the be all and end all. Otherwise let's employ Big Ron cos he's got years of experience. Enthusiasm, ambition, ability, qualifications, knowledge of the game, knowledge of the club, passion about the club, honesty, hard-working...there are a load more attributes besides experience. Aidy Boothroyd had no experience and he took a similar sized club to ours into the premiership first time last season. I'm sure that the board won't take any decision likely, so lets get behind whoever is brought in, and for the time being lets give Simon Davey all the encouragement we can.
Ah but.... When have we hired an inexperience manager when we've been as "in the sh*t" as we are right now?
Its alright taking a chance on inexperience when you're a settled mid-table side. But we're right in the crap.

You say that... but under anderson we finished 4 points above relegation and were pretty close to the drop. we then not only appointed an inexperienced manager, but also someone from within the club and who wasn't a particularly popular player for the club. he was given no money to spend and in his first season the only player he brought in was malcolm shotton, who was by this time in his mid-30s. i think it's pretty safe to say that we were in a similar position (albeit the season hadn't started when wilson took over). what i'm saying is that they have to consider more than just experience
