Well done Southend for hammering another nail in its coffin. No thought for our fans whatsoever. What an absolute ***** club Southend are.
Why are you blaming Southend I strongly suspect that their fans are quite happy with playing on a Friday Night and what do they care about Visiting fans - its better for them if we only have 50 or 60 fans turn up
Now they've agreed to move the fixture they should get their hands in't pocket and put free coaches on for fans. Only fair.
And your point is? That the most loyal die hard fans and also the occasional fans in the south of England dont matter very much?
RE: My point is I think really it's as much to do with the principle-it is a spectator sport-if no-one turned up the game would fold-so spectators should be the number 1 priority
You are on the right lines mate but your post should .... have said ........... Well done Barnsley for hammering another nail in its coffin. No thought for their own fans whatsoever, again. What an absolute ***** club Barnsley are. Southend were within their rights to request the switch, and bet they couldn't believe it when we agreed to it. Barnsley should have said **** off cos there's nowt in it for us OR OUR FANS ............. and don't all start with this ...... "but we are playing Colchester the following Tuesday" ****** ............ footballers have played Saturday and Tuesday since the game was invented and if they can't play 2 games in 4 days they should pack it in
The official line is That the fans aren't important. Said to have been 260 away supporters last year (I was there and it was more than that) so it was worth giving the players an extra day's rest. Even if it was 260 - everyone of them can go take a running jump. It's the club's decision.
I'd guess about 300 last time and probably nearer 150 this - and those that do go will have a more difficult time to get there - but whats a few hundred loyal fans worth - they will still be there next week eh
263 officially but I seem to remember people at the time saying they were sure there was more than that. Last season it was a 3rd round tie, this season it's 4th round so we should expect a higher attendance this season. Also last season they were in same league as us, this season they are in a different league, a lower league, so we should fancy our chances and again there should be a higher attendance. I very much doubt that the away support will be that high this season.
I Think Us Taking............... as many as 900 for the league game and the difference that support made to the team, might have had sometime to do with it.
