Was he really the FA's 1st/only choice?? It just seems a rush to me making the decision to appoint the manager with 1 of the biggest jobs in world football in just 48 hours.
Woy is out of contract in June and is willing to take an active role in the development of the Burton Academy, whereas Levy wanted £9million for Redknapp (allegedly) and no way would Arry leave Sandbanks for the Midlands. Wayne Wooney. etc.
Dont you think they have been giving it some thought for longer than the last 48 hours - err like since Capello threw his teddy out Once they decided who they wanted they went and got him - seems straightforwards. My big concern is he wont be give a fair chance by the press who for some reason wanted bent 'Arry
Have to agree. What has Redknapp actually achieved in football despite being given vast amounts of money? He won the FA cup at Portsmouth while putting them under the most intense financial pressure that could see them become extinct. Hodgson is a much better manager and has created teams on limkted resource. It will take time but I'd rather have him overseeing the development of youngsters and the whole coaching set up than paying Redknapp for one final hurrah to top up his offshore pension he's no doubt unaware of.
I would think they've wanted him for some time and been planning their approach for weeks but waited until WBA were safe knowing he was out of contract in June.
