No idea. Definitely not at work, though. Honest.

He also only gave a yellow card to Foster for a horrible challenge that should have been a straight red. Works both ways.

Watched the game on tv, and I'm glad I no longer go if that's what passes for possession football at Oakwell nowadays. Defence to midfield, back to defence, across back four, midfielder comes to pick ball up, back to defence, across back four, midlielder comes to pick the ball up even deeper this time, back to defender, oh **** they're pressing us now, hoof the f**ker. Looks good on stats, but teams could sit back and watch that all day without us getting close to their penalty area. Truly terrible.

The ref didn't stop us scoring at the other end. We managed that all on our own but it seems to be going unnoticed.

been saying the same for ages, doesn't matter how good it looks on passes completed stats, counts for nothing in real terms when its just because the opposition has conceded that aspace and dropped back and let us self implode, same applies at the other end doesn't matter how miuch effective defending we do if the opposition chuck enough high balls in we will eventually drop a bollock or two. Very little if any variation in plan week to week we must save the opposition a fortune in scouting.

That pesky ref - cost us a 0-0 draw - as Dave Jones said he was poor for both sides
Pretty much in keeping with everything else - poor game between 2 poor sides reffed by a poor ref.

Unless something significant changes we are drifting towards the 3rd division with the fowls and either Peterborough or Bristol for company

It's the fact that Wedesday scored despite having no clear chances, and we didn't despite having at least 5 clear opportunities that cost us the game. They were there for the taking, their back 4 was arguably worse than ours, that poof with the crash hat on was terrible, albeit he made a great interception to deny Harewood late on, he spent most of the time arguing with the referee whilst the game passed him by. Had we taken just 2 of our chances, people would have been saying it was a hard fought win, instead of that, everyones trying to pin the blame one way or another.

Agreed. I've seen much worse refereeing performances than that. Foster should've been off, and that was early on. I'm still not convinced it was a foul on Steele either - whether there was a nudge or not, he should be punching the ball in that situation. Steele's kicking was awful too - why not control the ball instead of hitting the pass-back first time and it invariably going out for a throw-in? Can't blame the ref for yesterday's display, IMO.

Agree Foster was lucky...but if you can get the FLS on iplayer...it was definitely a foul on Steele when seen from another angle...................the ref was truly shocking......gave us nothing first half, probably watched the goal replay at half time and gave some ridiculous decisions in our favour second half, unfortunately none were as influential as a goal that should have been disallowed

agree foster should have walked, but it was a deffo blatant foul on steele sky commentators said so,dave jones said so and gary madine himself said so and most people that saw it tbh.
but we should still have won that game no danger the ref didn't stop us winning agreed but he caused us to lose imo

Blaming the ref is just papering over the cracks.

but on this occasion its true wendy would never have scored otherwise they are awfull worse than us. as bad as it was there was no way they should have won regardless of your feelings about the display.

The game was always going to be won by the first goal scorer as both sides are crap going forwards. If we had scored first we would have won one - nil.
