no way IMHO will he sign a deal , and that's from his side/ his agents etc. Take a long look and deep thought about this. He has shown to be a decent manager so far at championship level, at a club that cannot apparently back him up in the transfer market. If we go down he will be taken up by another championship club. If we stay in this league we will have to entertain him with a decent transfer budget. I think he will go after the season end, and we will look forwards to yet another nail biting struggle if we have stayed up, and if not we will face a good 5 years in the AleHouse again.
Mmmmm... not so sure myself. He'll have only managed 20 games in the Championship and although if he keeps us up, it'll have been an amazing and somewhat unprecedented achievement, I think clubs will want to see him do it over a full season before making a move. Then again, Michael Appleton keeps getting good jobs so anything's possible!
I think he's already done enough to tempt many Champ clubs to give him a chance. This is on the day that a PL Club have negotiated talks with an unproven League 1 manager
Disagree - I think he would snap the club's hands off at the chance of a new deal - he is a new manager with no serious track record - he needs to prove himself over a longer period of time. Fair shout, but over far too short a period for most clubs to be interested. Who says?. That would be a huge gamble for him to take unless there is an offer already on the table. In 6 months, without a job, he's just another unemployed former manager, and one with no track record to speak of. Why is that? - he knows what the score is here and I am of the opinion that he is happy enough with that scenario. If, and its a big if, he continues to shine over a longer period then he becomes a possible target for other clubs and he is in a better position. Until then, he has to stick with what's on offer - 25 games in the championship doesn't turn him into Alex Ferguson. If we offer him a new deal, imo he'll sign it - no question. I think it is more a question of whether we will offer it to him, especially if we go down.
The difference with Di Canio is that while he is still relatively untested as a manager he was a big name as a player so clubs are more likely to take a chance.
one thing he wont get if he stays is a decent transfer budget,it just dunt happen at oakwell, thats why we are where we are. What he will get is the realisation that come the summer he'll have to see one or two of his best players leave, especially if we are relegated.
I'm in no doubt he deserves a contract and that if offered in this division or the one below he will sign but I'm not sure the current regime at oakwell will make the decision. So far there's been no news on season tickets or any new player contracts (or I haven't heard any) and it seems strange to me because in previous years there's been a bit more going on than this. I don't think it's because of which division we will be in next year because we have been in this situation since we came back up. I'm hoping there's a takeover on the cards during the summer. Flicker and co should stay with or without one in my opinion wether were in the championship or not. I think we will stay up....just!
If Flicker isn't given a new contract for next season (relegation or not) then the regime at this club needs to pack their bags and **** off. That's my view. Suck my balls if you don't like it.
I remember at the Lamproom do he said there's no question about whether he wants to stay on next season. I took it as almost a given. Especially when he spoke a lot about commitment to the club. I would say he'll defo be here next season regardless of the league we're in. If we stay up and we achieve something spectacular under him - that's where we might have a problem keeping hold of him. I say this because listening to him about his background, this is by far and away the best job he'll ever have had. He doesn't seem at all the type to jump ship simply for more money.
Good luck to any fcuker that takes the reigns whilst Cryne & Rowing are at the club, roll on the takeover.
Over the past few seasons? Yeah of course he has, in his own words, not involved. Clubs being held up off the field.
