'Allo 'Allo due for screen return The comedy revolved around Edith and Rene Artois and their cafe French wartime sitcom 'Allo 'Allo is returning for a one-off special, the BBC has confirmed. The new episode, which will reunite the original cast, is being recorded in Manchester on 22 March and is due to be screened later in the spring. Gorden Kaye, who played hapless cafe owner Rene Artois in the comedy, will reprise his role. The series, which made light of the Nazi occupation of France, ran on BBC One from 1982 to 1992. Catchphrases The new show will be recorded at the Granada Studios in front of a live studio audience who have been asked to wear fancy dress for the occasion. The Nazis were often portrayed as bumbling buffoons The long-running comedy, written by David Lloyd and Jimmy Croft, became famous for the Germans' pursuit of an elusive painting called The Fallen Madonna With The Big Boobies. The show also gave rise to catchphrases such as "listen very carefully, I shall say this only once" from a sultry Resistance fighter, while a British agent who spoke poor French regularly used the greeting "good moaning". Actor Kaye, whose character was regularly seen trying to grab a few amorous moments with the waitresses in his cafe, was seriously injured in a car accident in 1990, returning to the role after his recovery. His on-screen wife, Edith, was played by Carmen Silvera, who died in 2002 at the age of 80. Richard Marner, who played Colonel Von Strohm, died in 2004. The television series spawned a successful stage tour from 1986, which also featured most of the sitcom's cast. How are they going to reunite the original cast, given that two of them are dead?
More than likely they will get 'look alikes' to play the parts. Pity they can't do a whole new series in place of some of the utter rubbish so called comedy at the moment. I think a remake of a lot of the old shows could be made with replacements. Steptoe & Son, Open All Hours, Porridge, Rising Damp, Faulty Towers.
Didn't Paul Merton remake a series of old comedies a few years ago, gave them a slightly more modern outlook but otherwise stuck to the original writing where possible?
Yay - I loved it ...but i doubt it would ever have the same impact.
The cast are creaking a bit anyway, and Edith was a major character that cannot easily be replaced.

Ant and dec did the likely lads The one where they tried to avoid being told the score - think Brian Glover was in the original
RE: No! Leave them as they are! nt Absolutely. They were all classics in their day, very funny but also reflected the times we lived in. To try and update them however minor will just never work, particularly as you would constantly be making comparisons with the originals. That said, take away 'Extras' (which has now finished ) and I cant think of one decent comedy over the last 12 months (and that includes both the vastly overated one dimensional Little Britain.....................and the vastly overrated one dimensional Dwayne Mattis.).
