I have been in and out of hospital last couple of weeks (including an extended stay) losing blood from the back end (so don't carry on reading if you dont want to) to the point where I have ended up enimic with high heart rate etc etc. They have ruled out my stomach and/or internally bleeding piles and think its coming from either my colon or bowels. Today I have been on some horrid laxitive stuff to "clear me out" and can't eat anything, and tomorrow I am in Day surgery to have a flexible camera up the "wrong un" to have a nosey around. Only the declaration I have to sign goes as far as accepting they can do what they need to should i become in danger. (which can be according to the declaration 1 in 1000 examinations). Is it really that possible, and am I in for some pain etc, and what kind of things could they find its stressing me out completely.
Re: Also, can anyone offer me some re--assurance (if you have experienced it or know someone who has They usually make you sign a disclaimer before any intrusive operation/procedure. It simply negates any accusations of assault by you in the future. Nowt to worry about, every operation has risks attached to it. My old man had it a couple of years ago and he said the worst bit was not eating and cr*pping out water. Oh and it's more uncomfortable when they pull the camera out than when they put it in apparently. Good luck mate.
I've had 2 It is painful but you will have a cannula in the vein in the back of your wrist & they can administer a drug which relaxes the bowel & pethidine, a strong painkiller. The relaxant can give you blurred vision for a while. You will need someone to take you home. The nurse will talk you thru the procedure & often you can watch on the screen. These things are performed by people who do the same thing day out (a dirty job but someone has to do it) so they are incredibly skilled and therefore as safe as possible. Complications are very rare. If there was any other way of diagnosing you they would use it as invasive techniques are only used when nothing else will do. If you want to know more please pm me
Re: Also, can anyone offer me some re--assurance (if you have experienced it or know someone who has I've been thru it a few times pal, although initially embarrassed you are put at ease by the people that perform the task who are wonderfully sympathetic to your plight, they talk to you constantly and tell you exactly what it is appearing on the screen, please try not to worry (easy eh?) the people that are going to take of you are the best. I hope your tests go well, they usually do.
RE: Ooooh Norfolk - what did you cook? Opted for the cottage pie a la Delia, worked a treat! Owe you one mate!
RE: Also, can anyone offer me some re--assurance (if you have experienced it or know someone who has I've had it done mate (camera up the arse) and you shouldnt start fretting yourself over it, i didn't feel a thing, it going in or coming out, was totally pain free thank **** cause i was frightened to hell all the stories mates etc was telling me about it.... Them laxatives you're taking to clear you out is what was worse for me.... Hope all's well for you when the results come back.... (Y)
RE: Ooooh Norfolk - what did you cook? She had a good appetite then? Allus remember Mr Ali cooking that for me.... been married almost 23 years now, got 2 grown up lads. Invite me to the wedding
RE: Also, can anyone offer me some re--assurance (if you have experienced it or know someone who has I've had it mate. The worst thing for me were the laxatives and resulting evacuation rather than the procedure. The procedure itself was uncomfortable rather than painful. I've also had a camera down my throat and I found that to be worse. For a start, you don't know where it's been. Well, you do and that's the problem.
Re: Also, can anyone offer me some re--assurance (if you have experienced it or know someone who has Put it this way, she didn't only eat at the table if you get my drift!?!
Cheers all, it has helped a touch. Got to admit, I am really not liking the laxative effects and not eating. Hopefully I have the relaxing experience and nowt serious is found I find it amazing that it seems so common an examination, I am on another site at the moment too, and it appears as though there a loads who go through it. Obviously not something nice, but it does help to know that its a common procedure once again, cheers
RE: Also, can anyone offer me some re--assurance (if you have experienced it or know someone who has I've had a camera up the opposite side.
Not painful like, but not very nice having anesthetic jelly injected up yer kn0b.
(seestars)

Oh Dear!!! I was told as I left hospital, that if it starts again, to go straight back via A&E. well, I have had 3 or 4 days at being ok, and the laxatives having their affect and up until half an hour ago I was ok, but its started again. ****! being the word. Hopefully it was a one off, but I can't see me being at home tonight, again!!!
She's more forward than I was all those years ago But I wanted to make sure Mr Ali had a proper job before I went there
