Certainly wouldn't advocate selling s/ts at £150...... or at least there'll be about 18000 fans there now wishing they hadn't bothered. At least right now. Bottom... one point. Another defeat. Oh flip.
Their board is, rather predictably, in meltdown right now. http://www.claretandbanter.uk/forums/bradford-city-talk.6/
So because we've won 2 games and Bradford haven't had the best of starts giving something back to the fans and not ripping them off is now a bad idea!? They've still got the same amount of money due to increased ticket sales. But it would have been better to charge their supporters double, and be in the same position? This Bradford thing isn't new, they have done it for years. Their season tickets have been cheap for a long time. They did it as a one off a while ago and kept to it. This most expensive since was 199 quid Personally I think BFC would be better off selling every ST for £100. Kids OAP the lot. Would still work out cheaper for most and would entice even more new fans to come
No they haven't. The maths just don't add up I'm afraid. You may get away with saying they make as much money from season ticket sales by halving the prices and doubling the season ticket sales, but they then lose a lot of extra money from folk who would generally pay on the day between 10 and 20 times per season now being season ticket holders (at the reduced rate). What Bradford have done is nothing at all to do with increasing revenue, but is solely to do with filling the ground and hoping the additional vocal support spurs the team on to greater things. Yes, there will probably be additional spend on the concourses, but the club will make a fraction of what the club would have made if they had sold a few thousand tickets at normal matchday prices each game. There is a good reason that only one club is taking this approach. It's just not a viable long term solution. I would imagine that if Bradford get promoted the deal will stop or will be changed, because they would take the gamble of retaining most of the people who had purchased the discounted season tickets with the promise of higher level football. Seriously, if halving the season ticket prices was a guaranteed path to fortune every lower league club would do it.
Is it still much better to pay £320 for a season ticket to pay for 50 loanees and be one point worse off that a team that charges £150 for season tickets?... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
"Bradford are doing poor with cheap STs so we would too" arguement can be added to "because Lita etc were crap all future experienced players will also be so lets keep signing inexperience".
Just carry on charging £320 and 327 on the day and ex-fans like me will stay away for ever and the numbers will grow! £200 for a st and £20 on the day is way more sensible for the product provided.
I reckon ST prices are priced at a fair level. Agree about pay on the day prices though, £27 is ridiculous, if I didn't have a ST I'd not pay it. £20 it should be, with a few offers over the season too.
Entertain the fans and play to win not to contain. That would be a start to entice people back thru the turnstiles irrespective of price
charging pay on the day supporters double what season ticket holders pay is wrong simple as that,i'm amazed that clubs can get away with it in this day and age,a pay on the day bloke paying double the price of the bloke next to him is never right. there are a multitide of reasons some dont get season tickets and going down this route doesnt make them any worse a supporter so they shouldnt be hammered financially. 20 quid a game is still a decent markup compared to season tickets and i'm sure would be more beneficial in the long run
In the late 70s early 80s going to a match cost about the same as going to the pictures...now its 3 times as much.
