And bear in mind that I've been away so haven't seen the BB during Ritchies sacking etc ...

But a lad at work [genuine] Man Utd fan as opposed to an armchair fan, tells me that in the program notes for the Man Utd v. Chelsea game the program notes suggested that Man Utd had offerred us three players including Alan Smith for loan up to Christmas.

I know we had some loans set-up but I'd never heard owt about Smith being amongst them. Find that difficult to believe but he's not usually the sort to try a wind-up.

 

Cardiff tried to get Smith, I think united did actually put Smith forward for loan. Smith refused, said he wasn't fully match fit and would rather stay put, get fit and fight for a 1st team place.

Not sure if we were offered him though.
