Am I on my own that I think we'll be ok this season?

Looks like some ,if not most fans are expecting us to struggle again this season.
I though, have a feeling we'll be ok and may surprise one or two teams this season.
I honestly think we'll have a decent season this time round, i just have that feeling!!

looking forward to the new season kicking off... I can't wait

    You reds!

Everyone has an opinion. Just like you to post as to why you think we'll be ok?

    No, you're not

I have faith in the manager and players to ensure we're going to be okay this season, not pushing for the play offs, but not in a relegation battle, either. It's an opinion, not a fact and I could well be wrong, but I honestly believe it. Others think differently, which is their right. But theirs is also just an opinion, nothing more.

I wasn't very optimistic about last season but we had a brilliant first half of the season so l'm not going to be too negative, l have a feeling some of the players that keef captured towards the back end of the season may be the surprise players for us this time round.

i much prefer to start every season with a bit of optimism regardless of anything that happened last season or through the summer, because if i cant even start the season afresh with optimism what the hell is the point in saving up for a season ticket

I think we'll struggle, and i'm usually an optimist, however I reckon we'll have enough to stay up, higher up the league this year, 20th ish.

What I don't understand is the scale of the negativity, before we've even kicked a ball. How do we not know that Etuhu and Cywka, or O'Brien and Done, wont provide the same way Drinkwater and Vaz Te did for Davies last season. Davies has goals in him, he just needs the service.

How do we not know that Mellis won't be the answer to Butterfield, who, despite him being a very good player, wasn't a leading midfielder in the championship. Mellis has brought a lot of promise with him, I reckon he'll have a good season.

We need a centre half, desperatly, I think a fit Hassell and Collins as fullbacks will do well, I also feel McNulty can rediscover the form he had in the early stages of last season. Foster is my big worry, and nobody seems to have any indication as to how Edwards will contribute.

I don't like the first impressions of Alnwick, while he looks a decent shot stopper, his judgement seems to let him down, and I think he wont be challenging Steele once he is fit again. I would like to see young Lukas Liderkevicius given a chance, but I can't see it happening.

    That's just my opinion anyway.

    1 - we've brought in good players.
2 - Keef's said he's looking for centre halves and strikers, the two areas that people say we need new players.
3 - there's 3 weeks left to sign players and then loan market opens up so more players will come in.
4 - I loved watching us play last season up until Feb. Nothing makes me think we can't do that again with the players he's brought in. Granted, we were **** after that though.

Pretty much what you said. Although I can't see Edwards contributing at all, not his biggest fan. Still like to see us sign a centre half, centre midfielder and a striker though.

I'll be ever optimistic and say we'll get our highest placed finish to the season since returning to the championship! Hillcrofts red & white army!

No you're not on your own but reading this board suggests those of us who think we'll be ok are in a minority. I think we're going to have a decent season and I know there are one or two others, but not many, who share my optimism.

    I reckon we'll...

...be making sweet sweet love to the opposition's net this season. Get Barry White as the entrance music. Ah yeah, it's business time!

I'd say we're doomed and can't believe people would think otherwise.

However, I can say with 100% sincerity I hope I'm wrong but even if we do stay up by finishing 21st it won't get us out the cycle we're in. Only way out of that is for the owner to wake up or sell up.

I don't think we are in the minority though Mario, just not vocal about our thoughts, personally I cannot see the point in posting on a positive note when all that will happen is that the usual crew will start hurling abuse about me being a happy clapper, brain washed, up KH's arris, an idiot or even knowing nowt about football etc, etc. I'm with you on this Mario I think we will be ok but do you know what, if we're not and we go down it's not the end of the world is it, at some point in our future we will go down, probably to the fourth tier and we will also come back up, all part of being a Barnsley supporter and if certain people can't deal with that, then they are in for a disappointing time. I have been part of the faithfull four thousand and I have was part of the eighteen thousand in the premier years and I will be there, eyes wide open if either happens again. I support Barnsley FC, not Man United or city and I know what happens when you support a team like ours, thats not being a happy clapper etc.etc. it's called being a realist and bl00dy hell do I enjoy the ride.

I don't think we'll go down but we need a good start, and I'm not overly impressed with Hill and his born again followers, most of whom post on here......that makes me a miserable clapper

You see, that is just why people think you are a happy clapper! You are derogatory towards others that have differing opinions, just like they are , both sides think the others are wrong , when in reality neither are right and the truth is somewhere inbetween.

I am not being derogatory to people who have different views to me though, I am being critical of the people who ARE derogatory to people with other views than them, I have nothing against people who have a different view to myself if it is constructive in it's content, in the past I have disagreed with things that have been posted only to agree with them at a later date, especially about players. I also have concerns in certain area's but I don't feel the need to bang on about it day after day.

    No not at all

I think we'll do OK, top third but not in the play offs.

I will probably state this opinion about 3 times a day from now on.

Well I don't miss many games, been the same for lots of years and that won't change .

..... and I don't mind if you all think I'm negative, I prefer to see it as realistic, but given how we finished the last 3 months of last season, and what we've brought in so far, I'm sorry to say that I think we are towing like fook and I doubt there will be 3 worse teams in this division than us, but I also 100% hope I'm proven wrong.

Anyway, got to go and get mi snap sorted for the Rochdale trip ............ up the reds!

Thats the spirit Keith. You may be right you may be wrong but you support our team through thick and thin.People are entitled to there views thats fine but when you get the same members day after day not changing the record it gets quite tedious. We can all assume what might happen but nobody knows, thats all part of the journey watching BFC.
