Am I right in saying that the F.A. Cup semi's won't go to a replay but straight to extra time & penalties if they finish as draws after 90 minutes? Normally I'd be pretty certain about this but I read in the newspaper that the quarter finals wouldn't be replayed only for Charlton & Middlesbrough to go to a replay. Given that the F.A. have messed about with the format this season, I wonder if anyone knew for certain?
From the FA Rulebook Section 15e) 15. PROVISIONS FOR THE SEMI-FINALS (a) The Association shall fix the ground for all Semi-Finals, and shall have direct control of the arrangements. (b) In the Semi-Finals, 5½% of the net gate receipts of each match shall be remitted to The Association and allocated for distribution to Affiliated Associations as determined by The Association. The remainder of the net gate receipts shall be divided in accordance with the Clauses below. (c) The venue staging a Semi-Final shall be entitled to a payment agreed by The Association. (d) In the Semi-Finals the remainder of the net gate receipts (less any payments to the staging venue) of both matches shall be combined and divided as follows: 25% to The Association. 65% to be divided equally between the four Clubs. 10% to the Pool. e) When a match is drawn after 90 minutes, an extra 30 minutes shall be played, and 15 minutes shall be played in each half. (f) When a match is drawn after extra time, the winner shall be determined by the taking of kicks from the penalty mark in accordance with the procedure adopted by The International Football Association Board. (g) Competing Clubs must settle all ticket accounts with the staging Club/Organisation within 7 days of the match.
Thanks Pretty much what I thought but given that they faffed about with the quarter finals, it wouldn't have surprised me if they'd done the same with the semi's!
RE: Thanks The rules for all the previous rounds were that there would be a replay if the match was drawn. Must have had a bit of mis-information for the quarter-finals.
