gave the penalty in front of the North Stand? Never seen owt like that before in my life. And for me it was Ehiogu who clearly head butted De Silva. De Silva was silly for going toe to toe with him, which always warrants a booking, but I'm not sure what he did to get sent off.
yup, unbefeckinlievable Not sure if Da Silva did wt before I saw matters unfold but looked like a yellow at worst but I may have missed the prelims.
Sure did,ref and linesman on the west stand ruined the game, ref bottled sending Morgan off as it was just after the Ehiogu/De Silva incident, incompetent fools!!!!
The Morgan/Hume decision was unbelievable. I've never seen a more blatant elbow to the face in my life.
Morgan should have got a straight red, there was no jumping off the ground in that challenge so he wasn't using his arms for leverage - just to swing his elbow into Hume's face - absolute disgrace from the officials. I was sat behind the linesman and it looked like hand ball from Kos but we were so far away and I have never seen a linesman in the other half of the field give a penalty, ever. Davey got sent to the stand, I thought he was going to give the linesman a Swansea kiss.
Ehiogu squared up to De Silva and nutted him, De Silva put his head forward in reaction. Tbh he would have been lucky to get away with a yellow card. The penalty decision was a disgrace as was the fact Morgan didn't get sent off for a deliberate elbow. All in all though every man on that football pitch gave their all. On another day we would have won it but you can't really say that Sheff Utd (as much as I hate them) deserved to lose
I sit in Ponty and I said penalty straight away and surprised that ref didn't give it. How a linesman can award it though when he is 70 yards away and player involved got back to him I'll never know. I don't think a Sheff U player even appealed
I sit by the half way line in the west stand Had almost the same view as the linesman I couldnt tell whether it was a penalty or not Had the ref given it straight away I wouldnt really have complained much as it certainly could have hit his arm but for a ref 10 yards away to not see it and a linesman 60 yards away to give it is a first - never seen anything like it in 40 years of watching football Morgans assault on Hume - speechless at how that was a yellow The rugby tackle on Moore? Beatties elbow in Souza's face how is that a yellow as well as for the incosistency at giving them the slightest touch as a foul but they could rugby tackle us and we didnt get anything
If it was such a blatant penalty And I'm not saying it wasn't, why didn't the referee or the linesman in front of the East Stand give it? Perplexing to say the least.
RE: If it was such a blatant penalty Also, if it was deliberate hand ball, why wasn't Kozluk sent off?
No argument from me about Anderson getting red carded....he did react. Anyone else though thought it looked like he showed the red card to Colace?!
Anderson had challenged for the ball twice off the ground connecting with his elbow on the opponent prior to his dismissal. It was one of those physical games that had elbows and boots flying in not all one sided as some seem to think.
Davey said on the radio after the match ... That he could probably put a compilation DVD already this season highlighting penalty shouts we've had turned down against the soft ones given against us. I thought the same as you on the double red - De Silva seemed to get pushed to the floor got back up and was giving Ehiogu a pretty stern lecture, didn't see him raise his hands or put his head in ... which Ehiogu clearly did. Davey said to him it looked like they both led with their heads so who knows. Hurt us more than them with Kilgallon slotting straight in.
Funny isnt it... JCR caught ball with his hand nothing given then my step bro (we sit in the west stand near halfway) said "good job we got away with that one that was a deffinate hand ball" as soon as he said that the liner started flagging for the peno (N)
