...who's underwhelmed by this cup draw. I can't get enthusiastic about it while our league position is so low and would much rather have had a low key draw, which kept the players wandering minds on the league.
I'm underwhelmed by the moral dilemma. Holiday abroad with husband & kids (one of whom wants to stay here for match) or stick around for match vs Man Utd reserves If it was guaranteed sunshine abroad I'd go for that no doubt, but knowing my luck it'll pour down for a week we can barely afford. Decisions, decisions. Hang on, maybe if I "tout" my tickets
Surely you're taking the p.iss? Considering not going on holiday just to watch shi-tty Barnsley? You're barmy.
Peterborough or Scunny as opposed to Man Utd (even though it will be their second 11)
Wes Brown, John O Shea, Nani, Michael Owen, possibly Carrick, Fletcher, a chance to look at Macheda, Wellbeck, Gibson. the loveable Gary Neville.
No perhaps your right, Peterborough or Scunny would have been the better draw, it would have sold out and been on sky as well no doubt.

Probably not the only one, but definitely in the minority. It's big games like these that we all live for. Yes, we want to improve our league position, but what's wrong with striving for both. I think if you did a proper study of teams from lower divisions that go on a decent cup run, I bet you'd find it difficult to argue either way that it has an effect on the league form. Yes, you could argue that during our cup run a couple of years ago, Howard's concerns about picking up the booking affected his commitment during the league games, but then again, a few days after losing at Wembley we won at Watford with Odejayi scoring twice, so I think it's irrelevant. I really would find it difficult to believe that any Reds fan is not seriously excited about playing the league champions though. This type of game comes up very rarely and, as I say, it's the kind of game that we want to be playing. And don't get carried away with the Man United reserves nonsense either. Alex Ferguson and every Man United fan will want to win this game and he'll be putting out a team that he thinks will do just that. They won't want to get beat by us on the telly. Yes, the standard of our squad means that he can pick players from the bottom end of his squad, but whichever team he picks, the players would walk into most teams in the country. If we win though, we haven't beaten Man United reserves, we've beaten Man United, and if their team consists of squad players that don't play regularly then it is a miscalculation on Fergie's part. Anyway, if they play their third choice striker, isn't that Michael Owen? I reckon we should concentrate on supporting the team through all the matches between now and then, but when the Cup game comes round we should enjoy it and you never know, we might just win it.
There's nothing wrong with striving for both: I'm just disillusioned by the endless relegation battles. I found myself hoping that Plymouth and Ipswich lost at the weekend to keep them below us. So early in the season!
So did i, stupid isn't it? That's just the way we feel though. :'( Just for once i'd like us to have a comfortable finish where we're not biting our finger nails come March/April with the prospect of relegation on our minds. Our start to the season suggests we will though...
Anyone who says they are underwhelmed about playing the biggest club in the world at our own ground and live on Sky should pack in watching football. Jesus H Christ
I'm a proper fan me! My whole life is planned around football. People think I was mad planning my wedding day around the fixture list -- I had to sacrifice Wolves away!! It should have been in the off season! Anyway, I'd rather go on holiday in February, when we get Colchester Utd away in the Fa cup, or something!
Well I for one have had a semi since it was announced....... I expect to be fully erect come kick off.
RE: Anyone who says they are underwhelmed about playing the biggest club in the world I've explained where I'm coming from with that comment. If you're too busy wetting your knickers in anticipation, good luck to you! Just hope that you look at the table the following morning and we're in better shape than now.
