Apparently slowing down the momentum of every attack by passing backwards to McNulty and Foster is worthy of the man of the match award. 200 5 yard backward passes in 2 games and its earned man of the match. No tackles, no purposeful forward passes, nothing. If that's what we're happy to accept then no wonder we're in trouble. Burnley are the worst side I've seen at Oakwell this season and yet again we allowed a soft early goal and then a team to camp on the edge of their own box and just punt the ball to safety repeatedly. I'm generally pretty positive but my positivity is wearing thin - the man of the match announcement was my only source of entertainment all game.
Tudgay for me too. Linked the play up well & scored a goal by showing the desire to beat a man a foot taller than him in the air. Did something to positively influence the result of the game.
It was an odd choice for motm for both games Not that Greening has done anything wrong, but like you say what he's mostly done is play simple passes in his own half. Keith Hill didn't call him the hand break for nothing.
Re: It was an odd choice for motm for both games Like you said when we signed him and Hill made his strange comments - we were slow enough in possession before he came. His first instinct is to go back to the centre halves - every single time he gets the ball. He's doing a job that me or most of the lads that play for the supporters team could do. 2 yard passes with no intent of hurting the opposition. Like you say - keeps the ball, neat and tidy - but no positive influence whatsoever.
Mate of mine at uni is a Forest fan, asked him for his opinions last week RE Greening and Tudgay. I quote,'Greening just plays it backwards, I'm not sure he understands the aim of the game' and Tudgay he said he is a very good player but has been unfortunate there not to get a regular first team spot.
Re: It was an odd choice for motm for both games if you dont let the opposition have he ball they cant do anything i thought greening played ok tonight, don't get me wrong. Infact better that Saturday
I thought Tudguy had a great game, first to every ball in the second half and worked his ****** off. Greening was their best defender today. Every time we looked like getting somewhere greening put a stop to it and passed it back to the half way line.
I think Greening fits in perfectly with Keith Hill's philosophy of possession football. He rarely if ever gives the ball away. Personally I'd prefer us to be more daring in our style of play, but if Greening is under instruction to just keep possession then you've got to admit he does it very well. It's not really how I want to see us play football though.
it how the game should be played keep the ball and as soon as you draw the opposition exploit it. Unfortunately, we do not do the latter
You can't draw the opposition if you're 1-0 down after 5 minutes every week, nor can you draw the opposition by passing it to two centre halves who don't look comfortable with the ball at their feet.
