Just watched it for the first time. Is there a generally accepted explanation or does it just have one of those cop-out, trendily ambiguous endings designed to provoke debate amongst terminally boring city dwellers? Apart from a great performance by Christian Bale I'd have to go against the critics and dismiss this particular emperor's new outfit as a bag of old ****. (Publishers can contact me via email. No job too small.)
Not a patch on the book. But I've lost respect for your film reviews now after dismissing this but recommending It's All Gone Pete Tong
Now that is one film..... I really do like! Especially the bit where he is shagging those birds and looking at himself in the mirror! Top man!
RE: Now that is one film..... or his music reviews on huey lewis and the news and phil collins while he his hacking some poor sod to death.
Good. I welcome the disapproval of anyone whose judgement leads him to describe the Stone Roses as "overrated Manc tossers."
RE: Yes. aint saying its a classic, nowhere near but i did find it amusing. like you said christian bale is very good in it,very underrated actor imo.
Only kiddin' mate. I think the industry's just waking up to what Christian Bale has to offer and he now occupies top slot in the Robert De Niro Alarming Weight Change Award league. I've only just realised he's Welsh an'all.
Haven't read the book, "enjoyed" the film all the way up until the last few minutes when it seemed like someone else decided to finish it off without referring to the past hour and a half.
Exactly. Either a lame attempt to generate controversy or they ran out of time/imagination. Either way the ending's a cheap cop out.
