from the LA Times. He's a big fan and wishes there was something comparable to it in baseball http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-facup4apr04,1,3673402.story if only he didn't call us a "buried team"
fair point but nice to see him admitting our way of playing for multiple trophies is better, and considering England is probably smaller than every American state (except Hawaii maybe) that's as accurate as the Americans will need
That's how I describe where it is....given that by American standards for distance to travel, being about 30 miles from Manchester is close, if you were 30 miles from a major city in the US then that would be your local city and probably the sports teams you'd follow. My future wife was amazed at how close places were, thought we were close to airport (when I picked her up from Manchester), and then having Leeds and Sheffield close by as well.....and she thought Barnsley was big as well! A few years ago, the season Man Utd won the Champions League, I was over there visiting a friend and was watching Man Utd's semi final on ESPN, her sister came in and said "Oh, Manchester - that's where you're from" based on the fact she knew I'd flown from Manchester airport.
